Beginning the off road trailer build...

I just got to the point with my Jeep that I can start my off the grid trailer build. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or experiences. As I start I will post what I got.

So far I have my original Rubicon suspension, rims, and tires. I'm looking for a frame to start modifying this week.

0ff road trailer

i just posted pictures in a recent thread of a trailer i have built for a few locals. If you have welder and metal working tools i could send you some of the specs and materals i used. Total cost is reasonable and it is a pretty simple design(K.I.S.S.) which tends to suite me:crazyeyes: have a pintle style on mine now but will be upgrading to quieter flex friendly hitch that the name of escapes me at the moment.

I'm in on this one. Never needed a trailer untill kid came along :). Now I pack more stuff. Also could help carry spare parts.

I'll take a set of instructions. Is it in PDF form?????? Also where's the thread you talked about?

I posted to the wrong thread!!! Just so excited! This is the base of what I'm trying. I have my old tires and suspension. I want to mount my arb tent and awning on this along with solar, water, propane and generator backup.... I hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew.

Should I use an old Dodge frame or fab my own? Maybe aluminum or is that not possible?

By the way I do like that trailer build. I subscribed to it before. I just want to be able to carry stuff for my three ladies. I'm not a solo act anymore!

Got it sand blasted today. I just started the body work. I'm going to bed line it. Next week is the frame and axle welding. I also want to make a rack and solar panel rack. Pick up cheap LEDs today too!

Testing the idea now...

30w panel wired to a plug...

Plugged into the portable 600w battery...

I am right now running a charger and a radio and it's dropped to 30% battery life. It's raining and cloudy out. Now I am going to see how it charges while running then by itself hooked to the panel.
