After selling my 2012 JKU sport 3 years ago, I've been away from JK's since then cause life hit; got married, bought a house, had a kid, and opened up my own shop...but I"M BAAAAAAAAACK!!!! Just picked up my dream Jeep, a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hardrock in Anvil!!!!! All that's missing are the red leather seats like in the 10th anniversary edition. But, we are building it as a shop jeep and wanted to share the ride with you all!

I bought this JKUR from an auto auction and couldn't be more excited. Just to get the story started, I live in Chicago and this JKUR was in Tallahassee, Florida. I decided to take the drive down there since we have just under 4 weeks to get this build done. 372 miles into the trip, the truck I borrowed from a friend, 2012 Silverado 3500HD dually diesel, went into limp mode, threw the check engine light and I had to limp it to a dealer 18 miles away. That ordeal took about 7 hours to get fixed and I was back on my way. But, made it there an back within 42 hours.

We took this think apart yesterday and found some more damage than I was hoping it had (i knew it, but wishful thinking). I knew the front diff was bad, but didnt expect anything with the engine. For now, we took apart the front end, gutted the front dana 44, and found the front timing cover and valve cover are cracked. No damage to engine though (hopefully).

That is where we are at as of now.

Below are two pictures, one at the auto auction when I picked it up, and the second is as it stands this morning. About to load it on the trailer and take it to my brothers body shop to straighten front section of frame where the bumper bolts onto and paint!!!!! Once back from paint, we should have some parts to piece it back together...

Plans so far:

- 3.5 inch lift kit (need assistance with which lift is good since the only experience I had with lifts were on TJ's)
- 37x13.50R17, probably Cooper Discoverer SST Pros. We put these tires on a customers JKU and he loves them
- Tube fenders (still don't know which brand)
- Poison Spyder body mount tire carrier
- Red leather from Katzkin (might have somthing embroidered in them, don;t know yet)
- Inner fender liners with the shop name cut into them
- RIMS ------- no idea yet. Looking for 17x9's, but there's way to many rims to choose from

And that's all I have time for since my wife is yelling at me to get back to work!!!

Woah Man! that looks like a project for you.. is that the only frame damage on the vehicle.. usually those impacts do damage c section on the frame everywhere right?
Wondering if you'd get to know if there isn't any other frame damage withing getting the shell off the frame?

Rebuilt title is it or just a Rock crawler build?

Damn, from the looks of that first picture it looks like the jeep made one hell of an impact. I take it you have a lot of experience bringing back jeeps from the dead. I'm interested in seeing the progression from beat to sweet.

Doesn't look like there is any other frame damage. just the very front of it. Nothing else shifted anywhere on the frame.

As to the title, it will be a rebuilt title. I'm looking to make this into a shop advertising vehicle to take to outings, but also take the family on random trips like we used to when it was just my girlfriend (now wife) back in the day.

I do have a little bit of experience. Hell, if man put it together once at the factory, it can be taken apart and put back together again!!!!!!

We've been so busy with this build and other builds that we forgot to post status updates. But, here they are. We are almost done with it!

The front diff tube on the driver side was bent so we had to take that mess apart and find a new front diff.

We ended up getting the JK8 housing from the dealership for a steal of a price. The tubes are thicker that the stock rubicon axles so we couldn't say no. We didnt want to dump half the budget into new 60's, so this is the way we went. We regeared to 4.56's as well.

We got it back front paint and started piecing it together. New windshield frame and windshield installed. The old windshield frame is repairable and we are going to get that repaired, but we were in a time crunch to get it back from paint. Also installed front oem hardrock bumper with winch. In these pics, we still had old diff under the front to move it around until the gears were set. --(we couldn't wait to test fit the wheels in the last pic here!!!)

We installed the front diff, rubi express lift kit, FOX external reservior shocks, and track bars! Also installed the Hi-Lift jack on the driver side A-pillar.

We installed the DV8 body mounted tire carrier to hold the 37x13.50 tire.

Here are some pictures from the picnic/show we had it at. It wasn't completely done at this point mechanically, but visually looked pretty good.20180722_125634.jpg20180722_120624.jpg20180722_125625.jpg

Wow, quite a change there; it's looking good! Hope you get all the kinks worked out mechanically. That'll be quite an accomplishment!
