2012 Exhaust Issues with 4" Lift

Well, I finally got the lift back on my new 2012 Jeep and low an' behold another issue arises.:grayno: I'm sure some of you have already noticed there is an issue with the exhaust and the front drive shaft coming in contact with each other at full droop.

I have seen some couplings that you can buy and add to both sides of the exhaust but that only gives you enough for a 3" lift. I myself have a 4.5" lift. Next week I'm going to take it to an exhaust shop to see what they can do.

Anyone have any fixes that worked for them or other suggestions? I would be interested to hear them.

Replace the front driveshaft. It needs done anyways.

What's your shock length?

Check out AFE they make a replacement section for that as well.

I looked at AFE, but I don't want to weld it myself. (I'm not a welder-fabricator). I figure take it to a shop and they will probably fabricate something just like it and charge just as much or maybe less/more..I dunno.

Do you recommend a certain company/model drive shaft? I have also heard that replacing the drive shaft is basically required.

as mentioned, you really need to replace your front drive shaft with something like a 1310 u-joint style shaft. i would also recommend that you install a set of teraflex exhaust spacers. this will help address your issues.

Is there a certain brand/model I should be using? Recommended?

What is the purpose of the 1310 type? I'm asking, because I'm not that knowledgeable on drive shafts. I'm guessing it's because of the angle of the front drive shaft in the rear of the shaft; the part that goes into the TC?

The 1310 JE Reel or Coast driveline will work good. The 1310's have a smaller diameter tube that helps clear the exhaust tube.

Thanks for the info. I'm learning more and more every day.

Is the smaller diameter tube less tough than the OME shaft? I would think it would be, but maybe not? I don't want to put myself into a position that this thing is always going to break because it's smaller. (I know this is probably a dumb observation, but to someone like me who is less mechanically inclined than some others, I hope you understand the obvious questions)
