    They are handy for that for sure. That's one reason why my box in back is the size it is, to leave room for mine between the box and the front seats. If mine is not on, it is with me just in case.

    Actually, the axe is easier to get to, as it lives under the tire. It also works good taking it off. Just pry up as you tilt it back to you.

    The trick is to get it standing up close, and use a jack handle, axe handle, shovel, etc as a pry bar to lift it into position. I do mine solo much easier than any of the other style carriers.
