    Fox 4" - 6" External Res + 3" Coils

I think I was wrong. You might be right. I'm always weary of trying to use a shock as a structural component supporting any weight. At full stuff, the shock would be sharing the weight of the Jeep and can easily happen very harshly, leading to damage. For droop, however, the shock would "only"...

    Fox 4" - 6" External Res + 3" Coils

I would caution against using your shock to limit down travel. Over-extending a shock can damage it just the same as over-compression. In my experience, the control arm and track bar geometries limit the down travel before my springs want to unseat, so I got the longest shocks I could fit with...

    Fox 4" - 6" External Res + 3" Coils

That's basically what I'm running. I have Fox external reservoirs for 4-6" lift even though I'm using 3" lift coils. The 3" bumpstops are enough to keep the shock from fully compressing on full stuff.

    Suspension System advice

I'm using a Synergy 3" lift and flat fenders to fit 37's. I've been a big fan of Synergy stuff. I did mine piece by piece replacing an entry-level Rubicon Express lift. I started with the coils, then I did control arms two at a time. I think the Synergy components are a good foundation for a...

    UD44

Great that you found your answer! I didn't realize that the track bar bracket on the UD44 had to mounting locations. Thanks for correcting me. The one inch might be noticeable. I guess you'll have to try it and see. I know there are several bolt-on brackets in case you end up needing one but...

    UD44

Here's my understanding: On the UD44 page on the Spicer website, it looks like the only differences that affect the brackets at all are the bracket thicknesses. To me, that says that the UD44 is designed to work with the stock-style suspension, so the placement and interior clearance should be...

    Wandering issue

My Rare Parts ball joints took ~1-1.5k to break in and stop tracking strangely. There's a slight chance your ball joints are still breaking in at 1k. Fingers crossed, anyways. I had a strange problem after installing adjustable control arms that alignment shops didn't fix. I accidentally...

    STEERING PROBLEM

Could this be an alignment issue? It's bit of a shot in the dark, but it sounds like you just replaced all of your tie rod ends. If the toe is slightly out, maybe that could affect the steering feel and whether it returns to center. Did you get an alignment (or do your own) after installing all...

    Bump steer issue

The angle between the drag link and track bar look substantial in the pictures. If I'm visualizing things correctly, a shorter track bar would cause the angle of the track bar to steepen more quickly than the drag link (I could be wrong, though). You will have to get an appropriately sized track...

    HELP!!! Steering/Suspension problems

The drag link flip will raise the axle side of the drag link, changing its angle. If that angle is different than the track bar, the drag link will be forced to move when the axle moves up or down since the track bar is sweeping through a different arc than the drag link would. This what we feel...

Mysterious Clunk Under Driver Side Floorboard

A few months ago, I started noticing a subtle clunk coming from underneath the driver's side floorboard. Here's what I've noticed so far: I can feel it more than I can hear it. The clunk happens while going over uneven bumps. What I mean by "uneven" is that the driver side hits a bump and the...

    Cylinder 2 Misfire Help

Friday night my 2009 Rubicon felt sluggish, was running really rough, and had a persistent check engine light flashing on the 5 mile drive home. Using the built-in code display, the code was p0302 indicating a cylinder 2 misfire. I knew that my spark plugs were old (95k miles), so I replaced...

Power Options After Colorado Adopts California ARB Standards

I wasn't aware until very recently, but in 2018 Hickenlooper signed a bill for Colorado to adopt California's emissions standards (the dreaded CARB). There's roughly a 0% chance Polis will undo it, I wager. The new rules are supposed to start sometime in 2020 (I don't know exactly when). I've...

    Wandering and Alignment Specs

Hi all, I recently put in a Fusion 4x4 front axle. In the process, I messed up a bunch of my control arm lengths. The front axle had a different ratio than the rear, so I got it drivable (without the front driveshaft, obviously) and took it to a local 4x4 shop for a regear. I got in a rush to...

    Finally Joining: Another New Guy

Hi, everybody! I've been using the information available on the forums for a while, so I figured it's time to finally join one. I figured wayalife typically has the best write-ups, so I'd join it. For my family, the Jeep thing started with my dad and his '86 CJ7. My mom says that when he first...
