RaccøønJK - Jeep Wrangler JK 2DR 2015 - The Story, Build & Brainstorm Project

Quick question - My clutch is making a funny noise everytime I shift, like a cracking noise. Dealership told me it wasn't anything I should worry about but hey, it's still kind of anoying.

Can someone help me out? :)

I would really love to get a solution to this problem because mine is doing the exact same thing and it drives me nuts!

Here, I'll try this and keep you posted!

Ben, nothing to worry about. Had the same issue with mine and it was pretty annoying.. try puting some grease, or even wd40, down there where it pivots and it will do the trick... it did for mine. I've seen several manual JK with the same issue, and even when with the brake pedal as well.

I'm still heeere [emoji48]

Love the sticker ahah [emoji57]

So from ALL these I only achieved one. The sticker.
FML.

It's pretty neat though 🙃 But here's an update on those ideas :

1. RaccøønJK sticker 🦄 DONE

2. Remove exhaust muffler/straight pipe

(Still has to be done and will still do)

I'll probably upgrade the exhaust pipes somewhere down the line and have it nicely tucked away from trail hazard and everything.

3. Plastidip rear tail light (Round)

(Still has to be done and will still do)

4. Plastidip half doors/hard top sides

(Still has to be done and will still do)

Still debating if I'll be doing the front windshield frame as well. We'll see when I get down to it.

I will be doing the front windshield frame as well as the front grill and hood. Saw "Stitch", one of Jeep "concept" wrangler paint-job and I really dig it. Here's a pic

Plus, love the name! Reminds me of this blue alien bastard Disney created which I used to watch over and over again as a kid.

5. SiriusXM antenna - Thibault Chrysler

That's just my SiriusXM radio that gave up on me after I pressure washed the interior of my JK after a day... playing in mud.

It was working when I got home on the 14th so it became a no-brainer.

6. Sway bar quick disco Grade 8 bolts

A DIY mod...

(Still has to be done and will still do)

7. Hi-Lift jack hood mount

(Still has to be done and will still do)

8. Home made high clearance/approach angle front bumper winch

(Still has to be done and will still do)

9. Rear crossmember flip + hitch

Putting a hold on that one since EVO DTD Coilovers use the stock rear crossmember as a structural point from what I've been told.

10. Ferblanterie half doors measurements

(Still has to be done and will still do)

11. Side mirrors repairs/swap

(Still has to be done and will still do)

... ... ...

Sooo in the meantime I weighted the RaccøønJK just for the hell of it. Full tank of gas, rear seat in, hard top on and my fat ass sitting in it brought the scale up to a gross weight of 2050KG, so 4520ish pounds. That's a whole lot to me. Anyways, the deal was to get the weight in order to see where I'm starting with and what I'll end up with once I'm "done" modding. Who is ever really done modding though?

Nice to be back to work but I'll be missing the RaccøønJK... In other news, we hit the 50 000km mark this morning right when I parked it at my sitting spot for the next two weeks.

And here it was sitting in all of it's glory, begging me to not leave it

You guys enjoy your rigs!!!

Sooo, little update on the RaccøønJK.

Ordered some Jeep partsss!

- Skyjacker Suspensions 2" leveling kit to level the front end
ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1472247893.538488.jpg
- Rubicon Express rear swaybar links (I'll be moving the OEM rear ones to the front)
ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1472247913.402183.jpg
- New stainless steel hex bolts for the Shittybilt winch I have, the ones I have on there didn't last long over here after only one Quebecker winter.

The bolts came in today, but I'll only be home next week.

- Grade 8 slotted bolts for my home made front quick disco

And found a OEM JKUR suspension in Montreal for about 300 CAD$ so that'll bring the RaccøønJK up about an inch or so - still have to work out the details with the owner.

Also took off my heavy front bumper and getting my home made frame chop one on there in a couple of weeks.

Also, the way I set up my winch on the old bumper made the wires contact with the bottom of my front grill rubbing against it in trails and left some big fucking dents in it. I'll have to fix that too.

Also, I'm buying my brother's trailer to convert into an off-road capable one with storage for my gear and also luggages since my girlfriend's baby delivery due date's in December. A new Jeeper will be born! Name's Logan :)

I don't have pictures of the trailer unfortunately but I did the sketches for it. I'll be able to put my hard top on it when on vacation, store my doors and secure my freedom top panels on it too, planning on carrying Jerry cans, 3 more spare tires and be able to turn it into a deck where we'll be able to set up the tent if needed. Here, the blueprints

That's it for now I guess!

You guys enjoy your rig this week-end.

Happy Jeepin'!

Also, planning on 37's - a little early to talk about that but I got my list of parts and prices for it and it ain't cheap but it'll be worth it.

I've looked into replacing my front Dana 30 for a 44 w/4.88 ratio and everything but the axle itself would cost me 7500 CAD$... So I did the math :

1431.18$ - Regear front D30 and rear D44 to 4.88
805$ - Axle sleeves D30, D44, C-Gussets & control arm skids
300$ - OEM JKUR Suspension
1900$ - AdamsDriveShafts 1350 CV driveshafts
2242.5$ - 5x BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2 37x12.5R17
563.5$ - 5x Pro Comp wheels 17x8.5

7342.18 CAD$ - Grand total, all txs included.

So I'll be reinforcing my front and rear end and getting all these goodies PLUS my 37's w/wheels for the same price as a D44.

I'm good with that :dreamy:

Why BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2 if I'm going for 37's? Because it's the only 37 I found which had the winter peak logo on them, which is required here in Quebec during winter time

Dude, you're going to re-gear your front 30 to 4.88 and run 37s? You may want to really look at that before you do it. The 4.88 is a tiny pinion gear on a 30 and 37s is just asking for a failure. Have you looked into finding a used rubicon44 axle?

I did and I can't find nothing around me or remotely close to me.

The smaller gear in this photo is a 4.56 from a 30. A 4.88 will be even smaller.

Sure looks tiny, but I've been highly recommended 4.88's in terms of performance and fiability. Thinking about having them cryogenically threated too once I'm ready for it. Should strenghten the whole ring and pinions assembly - anyways, the weak point will always be ring and pinions anyways, no matter what Dana you have. Sure it'd be a lot less encline to give up but we'll see how it all holds up.
