If you can believe it, November 13th marks the 72nd Birthday of the Jeep...

November 13: Willys delivered Jeep prototype to the Army on this date in 1940
Seventy-two years ago today -- Nov. 13, 1940 -- Willys-Overland delivered two of its so-called "Quad" prototype military vehicles to the Army at Camp Holabird, Maryland. If the Quad looked like the prototype vehicle American Bantam Car Company had delivered to the same camp less than two months earlier, that's because it was the same vehicle, more or less.

It always bugged me that the pic that they included in the article was that of a Willys being that the origial Jeep was made by Bantam. Needless to say, here's a pic I found that better shows what the original Jeep would have looked like :yup:

Thanks for posting this. I have a really cool calender that shows all the different build dates of the Jeep models. Makes me sad I cant go back in time and buy them!
