MAPLE HONEY : A Project-JK Canadian Style Rubicon Trail Run

Earlier in the year, I got a message from a guy named David who lives in Canada and frequents JK-Forum.com. In it, he said that he and a few buddies of his were planning a trip down to the Rubicon and was hoping that Cindy and I might be willing to lead them through. Of course, at the time, I didn't know this guy from Adam but, I said "sure" and that he should contact me again when we got closer to summer and, pretty much put it out of my mind. Well, sure enough, as soon as July rolled around, I got another message from David to let me know when he and his fellow Canuks would be down in South Lake Tahoe and, to see if we were still on. While none of us really knew each other, none of us were really strangers either. After all, we were Jeepers and, this is the story about our Maple Honey experience on the Rubicon Trail.

So many videos to watch, so little time,, I'm glad winter is coming, it'll give us lots to do on those cold nights,,
Kudos to Cindy and yourself for the fantastic work you have put into these vids !!!
I'm trying to learn priemier and after effects, but after seeing what you guys are producing, I kinda feel like giving up,,,lol

soon you'll here from a bunch of "other" canadians ... the Rubicon is a goal for a family project ... 3 years from now :D

What's up with the bag hanging off the back of your Jeep? I have seen it in some of your other videos too.

A "wag bag"

some are full of garbage, some more than garbage....

My favourite vid on the wayalife channel for sure! I gotta get in touch with Dave to see if he's up for a repeat this year, but go for Moab and Rubicon in the same trip :)

When are you headed to Rubicon? A bunch of us from the Vancouver area will be on the trail July 9-12

Thats awesome! Gonna be HOT in July ;)

We're leaving on the 28th of March and heading straight to Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari, then cruising west to South Lake Tahoe to hit the Rubicon for a weekend before taking a leisurely drive to San Francisco and up the west coast highway through to Portland and Seattle back home to Calgary via Vancouver and Kelowna. We don't have a firm return date thus far, but expect the whole trip to be somewhere in the 18-22 day range.

I'd be interested in joining in on your trip in July if you're keen to have another Canuck Jeeper around..

Random question: did you by any chance put a note on the windshield of a jacked up black Jeep at the Vancouver Yacht Club last summer? If it was you - I took your advice and signed up on Project-JK.com :)

Cheers!

Good luck in March or April on the Rubicon. Guys were only being able to drive all the way through about July 1st last year - it was a big snow year. Pirate4x4 has ongoing updated thead on current trail conditions in their Rubicon Trail section. New one for 2012 was just started up a couple weeks ago.

Or are you taking your sleds with you? :)

For details on my trip, send me a PM.

I have never been to any yacht club. So it was not me.

Only if you bring Dennis with you. We go back a ways. Both of us had YJs at the same time and we both got LJs at about the same time. Though I still have my LJ :)

Though all of us here who used to wheel alot with Dennis cringe when the vid had him as Miyagi. We all refer to him as David Suzuki as he is splitting image of the enviro nut with his CBC TV show...

I will send you an email.
