Rancho Shock Questions

No instructions in the boxes, so going to ask here.

I assume these are body down and rod up.

Unlocking the shock, turn rod counterclockwise and pull or let the rod extend on it's own?

Also, is it best to "prime" these before installation?

Hate assuming things haven't changed, it's been a few years since I've replaced shocks.

Struts are a different story.
