On average, May 6th but Cindy is going to start planting cool weather crops in April. Also, she’ll be using row covers for other stuff too. And yes, this tractor is totally paying for itself!
Actually, we got a soil test done and bought 8 yards of boost from a local compost company to help make it better.
Thanks and I’ve just been helping Cindy out. She’s the real farmer. And yes, this place and Ely are definitely bug out spots for us

Cindy found a full soil test company that gives you complete information about what it has and what it needs. From there, we had a local compost company create boost specifically tailored made to help amend our soil. I think the test company is called International AG Labs and they’re in Minnesota.
Ok - that’s not bad at all and there are things you can do to help mitigate frost.

Yup. We are planning low tunnels for this fall to extend a bit if needed. Probably won’t need them until next year. We are busy enough so regular season will be more than we can deal with I’m sure.

If the SOBs in government don’t try to regulate it out of existence- I heard rumor they were trying.
pH in Northern Nevada is typically pretty high. Ours was 7.9 but anything under 8 will still produce a good garden. The boost we got had sulfer added to it to help lower our pH to a more optimal level.
Not sure about the previous owner specifically but the area that we're working was farmed for sure. It's very level and on our site map, the area is listed as "edge of field" and there is an old irrigation ditch that is still present that marks it off.
