New ZJ in the family

Couple issues popped up over the winter. Lost all power to my temperature control panel and started leaking power steering fluid from the pump and box. Replaced the box and now the steering wheel is off center. Weird since everything is keyed to center. My headliner also took the shitter and I'm gonna have to do that at some point too. Heading to pick n pull tomorrow to find some budget heating parts.

I pulled my intake to fix the plenum gasket. The real solution is the milled aluminum plate but I can't afford that so new dorman gaskets with right stuff gasket maker. Any progress on the ZJ? I almost picked up a 98 with a 5,9 for around $400. Engine was strong the whole rig needed work tho.

Not a whole lot. It's my daily right now. Still burning oil after doing the plenum so idk 🤷. It's going to be putting on 1-2 hundred miles a day for the next three months while the TJ goes under the knife so I may pull the roof rack for fuel economy.

And that's all she wrote. Head gasket blew on Thursday so that wraps up the rise of Yeti. She's posted up on Craigslist and the local jeep buy and sell page on Facebook. I love this thing but a head gasket is where I draw the line for a rig I paid 1200 for.

Honestly the head gasket is definitely blown and I don't know if I did any other engine damage if I'm being transparent. I've got spare parts for it and I'd leave the budget boost on plus the roof rack and stickers. Sagging headliner and bad temp control panel are the biggest other issues other than the speedo sensor being intermittent. I know you've been looking for one so I'd make you a deal if you were willing. I could start it up with it cool on Sunday and give the engine a listen.

Like I said, if it was the 4.0 I would just do it but I've pulled the intake three times now in the last couple months and I'm fed up. I have a spare temp control panel and Vic. I would be pulling the sound system out though since I may have spent more than it's worth when I first got it. I also would toss in another top end gasket set for ya and the valve cover gaskets are brand new felpro blue silicone. Since I work for Napa I could do a sending off bundle of parts 😂😂.

Too bad you have had all the troubles with it. Once I sell my rig i'll be able to buy something per boss. I do know I want a ZJ or WJ. It is very tempting getting a V8 however, I would welcome a 4.0. I am in Eugene. PM me the Craigslist add and/or Facebook I'll check it out. Just do not have the place to do work on it and would have to take it somewhere. I do not mind doing a lift in a parking lot tho....done it before.:cheesy: I am looking at a very clean 1999 WJ with a 4.0 at the moment. Just gotta sell the JK!

The chapter on yeti closed last week. I pull the engine out of her and gave the rest to the scrap yard. Got to the point where It was just taking up space in my driveway and I couldn’t deal with it nor did I have the time to.

Still some rough low idle. Gonna check the spark plugs. If they're only then I know the plenum gasket is bad. Also going to replace the IAC and the pcv valves.

I had the same problem with my 1996 ZJ, it was the idle position sensor, 5 minute swap and I had no more problems. I actully swappy the idle position sensor and I think it was the throttle body sensor.. I bought my ZJ brand new and had her for 14 years, I put around 327k miles on her. the only thing that want bad besides the sensors mentioned was the temp sensor.
