Nice! Mine was a 71 and my buddy had a 73. Mine had a built 304 with a Crane Fireball cam, ported & polished heads, etc, etc. Had that rumpity-rumpity idle. Man I loved those cars. No one knew what they were and mine was fast as stink.

Wow, that thing must have been bad ass! What I loved most about those cars (besides how cool they looked) was how easy they were to work on. I bought my 68 for $100 bucks with a seized 304. I got a 330HP 401 out of a 1st gen 72 Police Matador complete with the Torque Flight 727 auto trans. Installed a Holley 650, Intake, headers, Full Centrifugal Advance Malory distributor and a few other tweaks. That thing was scary fast. I almost killed myself several times in that car. :crazyeyes:

Unfortunately, that car came to an untimely end after I sold it to my brother. One early morning he was driving (racing) and the throttle stuck wide open. Not sure how fast he was going but he hit a light pole head on which totaled the car. I'll have to find pics and post them up. Fortunately, my brother was lucky and only ended up with a bump on his head and a bruised ego.

He loved that Javelin so much he turned around and bought a 69 AMX with a Blown 390. (That is a 390 with a blower!) Stupid fast car that he also wrecked. That's a story for another day. LOL
 
Damn telephone poles they always seem to install them in the most inconvenient places! Same buddy with the javelin wrapped a 70 Ambassador around a pole prom night. :icon_crazy:
Love to see photos of both of those you mentioned above...you inspired me to start a thread over in the pub section titled "Photos of your first true love"
