WFTW Retraction

Just wanted to add one major thing that many might not know, as Eddie is being nice and not saying it....

Just because an organization is -non-for-profit does NOT MEAN THERE ISN'T MONEY BEING MADE! IRS forms don't mean much anyway, although they at least prove you have a legitimate company, but the fact is, it doesn't mean squat, which is why there are companies that investigate charities and rate them, based on how much money actually makes it to the "destination."

For instance, CITY HARVEST, one of the largest food charities in the US, is legit, 501 and all. However, the president/founder pays himself a half mil salary. I can start a nonprofit tomorrow, and pay myself 250K, pay Eddie 100K, Craig another 100K, and Adam about three fiddy...and at the end, donat 99 cents to Wounded Warriors and I would be a legit charity.

Remember all that text to donate to Haiti money? Know how much of the money actually got there? Something like 4%. Red Cross also has an extremely low "through" rate.

Im not for one second going to tell anyone where to donate their money, but keep in mind that non-for-profit doesn't really mean squat. It is the transparency and the through rate that really matter.

...and acting like its difficult and too time consuming to set up a 501(c) is just plain silly.

I have a friend who will testify that setting up a 501c3 is the hardest thing ever and I will further testify that he is correct.... if your "charity" is a con, scam or otherwise retarded/useless.

So to be a charitable organization (or a medium acting as a donating broker of sorts) without a 501 or similar os a scam

Fair point. The last few I've set up were legitimate. I guess that's why it was easy.

All I can do is shake my head that this is still being discussed so many years later. It's real simple...WWP != WFTW.

For those who weren't around back then, when Jason and his ridiculous attempt at a "charity" were called out, finally another "charity" group bought the name out and began to run things. That's where all these small WFTW chapters came from, and I imagine some are doing real nice work.

There's no question that the intent and goal of the people in many of these orgs is good, but there's also no question that how this particular org started, and what a lot of people involved with it, did and are doing is just scam to get free shit.

Most of the legit stuff I've seen in this respect was revolving around WWP, not WFTW.

Good to hear a few WFTW chapters are doing things right, but it's all so shaky from how things started, I'd just rather support something that has been solid from the beginning and doing (essentially) the same thing. :twocents:

LOL!! Just when I was starting to think there was nobody left who witnessed what really happened back then. Nice to have you back Jack.
