Haven't come across that one lol.Duramax. Says it has Allison transmission too.
It’s an inline 6 3.0L.Chevy diesel 1500? What engine is that?
Brand new I assume? If so the LZO refresh of that motor in the late 23+ models is really good. Very fuel efficient and powerful for its size. He will obviously have emissions related issues at some point (cause all diesel trucks are getting Choked by these stupid regulations) but the powertrain warranty is 6yr/100k mile coverage.@cozdude or anyone my son is looking at a Chevy diesel 1500 PU. Wondering how they have been? Any years to avoid? Any and all advice is appreciated
Thank you. He was looking at a 23 actually. I think someone bought the truck before he could get down there. He still wants one so I’ll tell him to look for late 23 and up. Appreciate the help. It’s an inline 6 3.0L.

Where do you park your trailer? You have a big enough driveway or have to rent space?Update on GMC 1500 Sierra baby diesel towing.
It is awesome!!!! I just set cruise control and the truck just goes. Elevation, no elevation does not matter. Average mpg 13.8. Love it. GVW is about 8k.
If you want to tow but for daily driver 2500 or 3500 is an issue. This is the truck to go with.
Well, I rent garage and the driveway for the jeep and the truck in the house next door. $540 a month.Where do you park your trailer? You have a big enough driveway or have to rent space?
What do you need to know about them?Does anybody have intel on the current 2500/3500 GM Duramax trucks?
My 2006 GMC 2500 Duramax/Allison is a great truck but is starting to fall apart, paint is failing, headliner upholstery is falling down Etc.
I’m not ready to buy right this second but a new truck is in my future. I’ll probably paint the old one, fix some of the cosmetic stuff and let my kid drive it.
Sell me yours. Got about tree fiddy.Does anybody have intel on the current 2500/3500 GM Duramax trucks?

General quality info, options to avoid or get, known failures and issues etc. What do you need to know about them?
If I sell it I’ll let you have first bid.Sell me yours. Got about tree fiddy.
Yea the LLY and LBZ are very similar in build but tuning is different. Both great engines.General quality info, options to avoid or get, known failures and issues etc.
They just cost so damn much I’d hate to end up with one that has issues that could be avoided by getting a different year model.
I love my 2006 LLY, (some say it’s the same engine as the LBZ with different tuning) I’ve only had one issue that I took it in for a warranty repair, some port in the manifold was not machined properly and needed to be drilled out. Other than that it’s only ever worn out one front hub assembly that needed replacing.
If I sell it I’ll let you have first bid.
Super reassuring to hear from someone in the industry. Mine is likely to sit quite a bit since I daily the JL. The trailer I’m looking at is pretty heavy compared to my current toy hauler, many of the people who own them have upgraded to DRW trucks. New truck should get exercised plenty hard several times per year.Yea the LLY and LBZ are very similar in build but tuning is different. Both great engines.
The new L5P which has been around since 2015ish is a stout motor. Gen 2 of the engine came out in 2019 +/- a year. Most of the issues I saw and dealt with were common things like glow plugs burning out, injector wiring issues, and the common def pump heater circuit and def injector getting clogged. The trucks that had the most issues were the ones that barely got driven and the ones that people never used except to drive to the grocery store. These emission based trucks really need to be driven and get hot to burn off the soot.
As for interior options, it’s up to you. My dealer sold tons of Denali trim levels even to guys that beat them up. They just had all the creature comforts to make travel and use more comfortable.
Honestly I don’t think you can go wrong with the L5P engine trucks. They are good units from my pervious experience. Use to love working on them and driving them
