BANDIT : 2023 Jeep JT Gladiator Rubicon - Bright White/Black Grill & Top

20231222091518-84c9ae8b.jpg

Cindy and I couldn't resist the crazy great 15% Off MSRP end of the year discount that Jeep was offering on 2023 Jeep JT Gladiators and so, we just had to bring this white with black grill and hard top Rubicon home. Unfortunately, we did have to trade in Pippi to make it happen but for what we do and need on a daily basis, a truck just made way more sense for us to have. I should note, this is the first Jeep we've bought off a dealership lot in a long time, this as opposed to just ordering one through Peterson's in Idaho, and finding an honest one wasn't exactly easy. Fortunately, Lithia in Reno turned out to be legit and that's where we bought this one from.

Original Factory Specs
• 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine
• ZF-Based 850RE 8-Speed Automatic Transmission
• Bright White Clear Coat w/Black Grill
• Black Hard Top
• Color Matched Fenders

• Premium Leather Seats Black/Red Trim Interior
• Electronic Infotainment System
• Alpine Premium Sound System
• Cold Weather Group

392 : 2022 Jeep JL Wrangler 392 Rubicon Unlimited – Bright White

20230505191208-bf4417f9.jpg

When Cindy and I first heard that Jeep would be making a JL Wrangler Rubicon with a factory installed 392 under the hood, you can be sure that we were the first to say, “sign me up!” But, then came the reality check… the price. I mean, let’s be honest here, these things are stupid expensive and we already owned 3 built up Jeeps that did everything we wanted and more and Moby, our JK Wrangler already had a Motech 6.2L LT under his hood. So, what finally pushed us over the edge you might ask? Well, I suppose you could say we’re a little crazy… about V8 engines if nothing else. And, much like Jane, our CJ-5 Renegade with a first of its kind 304, we really wanted to have this JL Wrangler, as a part of our family and with what will most likely be, a last of its kind, 392.

Original Factory Specs
• 6.4L SRT HEMI MDS V8 Engine
• 8HP75 8-Speed Automatic Transmission
• 3.73 Gears
• Air Conditioning
• Color Matched Hard Top

JAWS : 2020 Jeep JT Gladiator Rubicon – Bright White

20230328175440-65c1782c.jpg

I’m not gonna lie, of all the Jeeps we’ve ever bought new from a dealership, this was maybe the worst experience we’ve had to date. Granted, I place most of the blame squarely on FCA/Jeep being that their “Launch Edition” was clearly just a marketing scheme designed to get people believing that ordering one would get them one of the very first Gladiators being made. What a joke that turned out to be. Of course, the dealership we chose to buy from, Peterson Jeep in Nampa, Idaho, didn’t do much to help things but that’s a whole other story. In the end, we finally got a Jeep JT Gladiator Rubicon, albeit isn’t the one we ordered but as of today, it is in our possession and what can I say – Cindy and I LOVE IT!!

RONA : 1993 Jeep YJ Wrangler – Navajo Turquoise Metallic

20200603154137-58fc822f.jpg

I’m not gonna lie, this Jeep YJ Wrangler was a total impulse buy and one that was spurred on by an unexpected COVID-19 stimulus check we got. Of course, we’ve never owned a YJ before and had always wanted to add one to our collection so in a way, things just kind of worked out. With the exception of a small 2″ BDS lift to help clear 31×10.50 BFG AT’s, it’s essentially bone stock and we’ll most likely keep it that way or at least, for now anyway. Being that we bought this with our stimulus check, I think RONA would be an appropriate name for her. 🙂

Original Factory Specs
• 4.0L I6 High Output Engine
• AX-15 5-Speed Manual Transmission
• Dana 30 Front Axle
• Dana 35 Rear Axle
• Soft Top
• Half Doors

CALAMITY JANE : 1974 Jeep CJ5 Renegade – Jetset Blue Metallic

20180820105044-09e2d5a9.jpg

When I think about Jeeps, an image of an old CJ is typically what comes to mind and if there’s been one Jeep that Cindy and I have owned and wished we had never sold, it’d be our old 1981 Jeep CJ7. While getting another CJ has always been on our old iron wish list, we had never really looked for one in earnest and when we came across this 1974 CJ5 Renegade up in Truckee, CA, we knew we had to buy it. Although it is an intermediate CJ and might be a bit harder to find parts for, it was pretty much bone stock and came complete with a 305 V8 under the hood, original Renegade factory aluminum wheels and Jeep/WARN 8074 winch! Needless to say, on August 16, 2016, we brought her home with us and named her, Calamity Jane.

Specs
AMC 304 V8 Engine
T-15 3-Speed Manual Transmission
Dana 20 Transfer Case
Dana 30 Front Axle w/WARN Locking Hubs
Dana 44 Rear Axle
31×10.50 BFG A/T Tires
Factory Renegade Aluminum Wheels
Holley Truck Avenger 470 Carburetor
Edelbrock Air Cleaner
MSD Distributor
Dynomax Exhaust System
Rancho 2″ Lift
Rancho RS5000 Shocks
Rancho Steering Stabilizer
Bestop Soft Top w/2-Piece Soft Doors
Factory WARN 8074 Winch
Raptor Bed Liner

RUSTY : 1972 Jeep J2000 Pick-Up Truck – Blue & White

20171125191919-2e1533a7.jpg

Cindy and I have owned a lot of Jeeps over the years and probably would have kept most of them if we had the room. Of course, after we moved up to Carson City and now had that room, the very first Jeep we decided to buy was one that we’ve always wanted and would also be useful to have. Needless to say, on February 11, 2014, we bought Rusty, our bone stock, 1972 Jeep J2000 Pick-Up Truck complete with an AMC 360 V8 under the hood, Townside bed and beautiful razor grill. Right now, he’s pretty much bone stock and really, he may always stay that way as that’s the way we like him.

Specs
AMC 360 V8 Engine
GM TH400 Automatic Transmission
Dana 20 Transfer Case
31×10.50/R15 BFG M/T KM2
ProComp Series 82 White Wheels

EMMA : 1969 Jeep C101 Jeepster Commando – White

20180722093258-6cd87069.jpg

Part car, part truck, part convertible but all Jeep, the C101 or Jeepster Commando was truly a misfit in the Jeep family and considered by some to be the ugly step child in the family. It may be for this very reason that Cindy and I have always love them and had been keeping an eye out for one ever since moving up to Carson City. As luck would have it, we found exactly what we were looking for around town and on August 3, 2015, we brought home Emma, a bone stock 1969 Jeepster Commando complete with hard top and a ton of personality.

Specs
225 Dauntless V6 Engine
TH400 Automatic Transmission
Dana 20 Transfer Case

PAPPY : 1954 Willys CJ3B – Yellow

20170222183737-89f2e593.jpg

Soon after learning that our son Andrew was planning to move back west, Cindy and I decided that a great way to celebrate his homecoming was to give him our old 1997 Jeep XJ Cherokee. Of course, that would leave us with an open stable and so we started looking for something to help fill in that void, something a bit older, more iconic and something that we’ve always wanted – a Willys CJ3B! With it’s unique “high hood” that helped accommodate the newer F-Head Hurricane engine and the fact that it had only been out for about 2 years before it was overshadowed by the legendary CJ5, the CJ3B is definitely an ugly stepchild in the Jeep family line up and something we had to have. After looking far and near for a couple of months and to no avail, we stumbled across Pappy – a 1954 CJ3B, literally just down the street from us and on September 21, 2015, we brought him home.

Specs
134 Hurricane F-Head I-4 Engine
T90 Manual Transmission
Spicer 18 Transfer Case
7.00×16 Firestone NDT Tires
Omix-Ada Replica 16″ Steel Wheels
Omix-Ada Factory Oil Filter System
Omix-Ada Factory Gastank/Sending Unit
Rancho Shocks

PIPPI : 2021 Jeep JL Wrangler 2-Door Sport / SOLD

20220407085533-0ebba0c4.jpg

PIPPI is a project that Cindy and I have been wanting to do for a long time now. To get back to our roots, back in something basic like a 2-door Jeep Wrangler and share with others, the great times you can have with it and for the most part, just as is. Much like Pippi Longstocking, the unassuming but crazy strong red headed little girl who took her friends on adventures of a lifetime, we’d like to show how something like this little red Jeep, can do the same.

With a big thanks to Kent over at Peterson’s Ram Jeep, we were able to take possession of PIPPI on May 13, 2021. While she was the most expensive 2-door we’ve ever bought, $31,900, it was still way cheaper than if we had gotten her from another dealership.

Original Factory Specs
• 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine
• 6-Speed Manual Transmission
• 3.45 Gears
• Air Conditioning
• Hard Top
• Half Doors w/Premium Soft Uppers

Mod Specs
• 285/75R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
• 17" Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Wheels
• JL Wrangler Rubicon E-Disonnect w/EVO No Limits Knob
• Factory Rubicon Rocker Guards
• Factory Hitch Receiver
• ACC BAR
• Switch Pros 9100 Switch System
• Tailgate Antenna Mount

JET Li : 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited – Bright White / SOLD

20220220163546-b4d4a229.jpg

It’s a funny thing how you never really know if you’re new Jeep is gonna be a he or a she. In fact, for the longest time, Cindy and I were totally convinced that our brand new 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited would be a girl and so, those were the only kind of names we were thinking of. Thanks to many of you, we had seriously considered names such as J-Lo, Jill and of course my favorite, JL-Bait. But, after seeing our new JL in person and taking it for a spin for the very first time, there was no question in our minds that this Jeep was in fact, a HE. Light, agile and KICKASS in every way imaginable, it became clear that he deserved a name befitting of these qualities. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to the newest member of the WAYALIFE family – JET Li!

Original Factory Specs
• 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine
• ZF-Based 850RE 8-Speed Automatic Transmission

Unfortunately, Cindy and I decided to sell JET. He was about as perfect of a JL Wrangler as we would want and that was kind of a problem. Since the JL came out 4 years ago, there have been a lot of changes and a lot of new products that we’d really like to test out and that simply wouldn’t be possible to do with him. Needless to say, it was sad to see him go but we are looking forward to starting again with a blank slate.

NEMO : 2009 Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited X – Sunburst Orange

20170205170710-af3fc0a2.jpg

It had always been our plan to buy and build up another Jeep JK Wrangler but we weren’t expecting to buy one until the 2010’s came out. The hope was that there would be some kind of significant change to the JK’s engine or at bare minimum, an introduction of a new color that just blew us away. Of course, thanks to the failing status of Chrysler at the time, the prospects of any real changes worth waiting for simply weren’t there. Needless to say, with dealers needing to move product and with all the crazy great incentives that were being offered by Chrysler at the time, we figured that it was as good a time to buy as any. JON SNOW : 1997 Jeep XJ Cherokee – Stone White

The nice thing about having 2 JK’s is that if one breaks, you have a Plan B to keep you out on the trails. But, what happens if your both Plan A and Plan B are broken? Well, you move into Plan C and for us, that would be a bone stock 1997 Jeep XJ Cherokee 4-door that we bought back on January 4, 2010. Since getting it, we’ve made a few modifications to it before giving it to our son and below are specs on what it has now.

Factory Specs:
• 4.0L I6 Engine
• 3-Speed Automatic Transmission
• Stone White
• Blue/Grey Interior
• Front & Rear Floor Mats

Build Specs:
• Rancho 2.5″ Lift Kit w/New Rear Spring Packs
• 285/70R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers
• Level 8 ZX Wheels
• JKS Swaybar Disconnects
• Bushwacker Flat Fender Flares
• Truck-Lite Headlights
• Swingaway Tire Carrier

1994 Jeep XJ Cherokee SE 2-Door – Black

20170205172218-d910d363.jpg

Although I have always loved Jeep Cherokee’s, I’d have to say that I’ve always been more of a 2-door/short wheel base kind of Jeeper. Because of it, I never really thought I would someday become the proud owner of an XJ but one day, I just happened to come across a 1994, black 2-door and with an asking price of just $1,200, I couldn’t pass it up. Needless to say, on June 23, 2006, Cindy and I became the proud owners of our very first XJ. Of course, about the same time we bought this Jeep, the all new 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler was coming out and so we decided to sell it about as soon as we got it so that we could focus all our attention on Project-JK.com. Below are a list of specs for this XJ at the time we sold it.

Specs
• 4.0L – HO I6 Engine
• AX-15 5-Speed Transmission
• NP231 Transfer Case
• Centerforce Clutch
• Dana 30 Front Axle
• Chrysler 8.25 Rear Axle w/3.07 Gears
• 30×9.50 Laramie Stealth AP Tires
• 15×8 Gambler Wheels

1981 Jeep CJ-7 – Black

20170205153606-9502926a.jpg

Cindy and I bought this 1981 Jeep CJ-7 on June 11, 2002 as a project to restore and eventually make into a daily driver. When I got it, the steering was completely shot, brakes non-existent and virtually every piece of emissions equipment was ripped out from under the hood. In truth, there was a lot more wrong with it than that and for the first couple of months, I had really wondered what the hell I got myself into. I’ll tell you one thing, if you aren’t capable or willing to do 99% of all the work required to bring a vehicle like this back to life, don’t buy one as you’ll go broke in a hurry taking it to a mechanic. However, if you are capable and willing, these are just about the easiest and best vehicles you could hope to work on as the technology is simple and parts readily available everywhere and for cheap!

A ton of skinned knuckls later, a lot of hard work and more money thrown at it than I probably should have, my CJ is finally a daily driver that looks great, drive great and I love it! Sadly, we struggled to get it to pass California smog visual inspection and because of it, ended up selling this awesome Jeep on December 14, 2006. Here is a list of what it had on it at the time.
