Ultimate Dana 60 Failure

Yup, seen a few of those on the JK. Definitely one of the reasons why I was so reluctant to give the UD60s a try. Fortunately, Dana has been listening to their customers and made well needed improvements for the JL and with the new Advantek 44. Again, my whole purpose for testing out the UD60 is to see how they'll hold up. If they end up breaking, I assure you that I will post as much here on the forum and on YouTube. That being said, so far, I've been pretty impressed with them.

So the improvements make to the JL axles haven't filtered down to the JK versions?

Honestly, I don't even know if they still make the original version that came out during the JK (what I was referring to). I'm pretty sure they're all the newer Advantek 44.

Aha. Great, thanks for the clarification. Was curious for the guys with JK's that could be looking at the UD60's....

Yeah. Mel did a great job of pointing out the improvements made as well as where others could be made like to the corners of the brackets. He said that would be about 20 min of welding to address but of course, being that we were going to hack everything off our UD60, it wouldn't be needed. I did express concern about the WARN hubs and he said that I could always install a set of Dynalocks if I wanted. But, for the purposes of our testing of them, I decided to just stick with what most people would get.

They stick out a lot more, aren't know to be as strong and in this thread, there was one person who pointed out a failure. Granted, it was most likely quality control at assembly but there's that. So far, haven't had any problems with ours.

Isn’t it true is the dynatrac hub breaks it breaks in the locked position vs warn breaks it will be unlocked? I swear I heard that somewhere which could be a great thing if you were still on the trail. With that said I haven’t see or heard of many or any of the UD warn hubs breaking. It seems that can take a beating.

You are correct and like you, I haven't seen or heard of many WARN hubs breaking.
 
Have there been dynatrac hub breaks? I haven’t seen any.

Nope. Not a one. The Dynalocs are well made and they’ve always served me well. I got a shit ton of hard miles on mine too.
