I thought it would be worth sharing some information I thought was interesting.
At one point I owned a 2014 4Runner Trail Edition. 3.73 gears. 4.0L v6. After adding 275/70r17 BFG KO's this was my gas mileage.

City/ Highway mix
Pretty terrible and hardly larger than stock. I did drive with a heavy foot.
Now I have a 2door Rubicon with 4.10 gears and the 3.8L engine. And 315/70r17 KO2's.

City/ Highway mix
Not bad
Neither have a tuner
I can't imagine what the gas mileage would be with larger tire's on the 4Runner!
