I agree with what you wrote, except that this was a case of open carry given that the gun was carried openly at his waistline.Being a concealed carrier has nothing to do with it. It was being a concealed carrier while going stupid places and doing stupid things with stupid people. He was caught behind enemy lines while armed.
Kristi Noem made it seem like open carry was the same as "brandishing".
I am a believer in the right to open carry and think that in many ways it is preferable to a concealed weapon. A concealed weapon might suggest that it is being carried illegally or result in violent actions which might otherwise would not have happened. Regardless, our constitution grants us the right (by default) to bear arms.
