Someone just tried to assassinate Trump

IDK, anyone else feeling discomfort over some of these recent headlines? If this was President Potato Sack taking over a city PD I think we'd be screaming at the top of our lungs......I'm not sayin he's wrong, just makes one think...

Yeah it’s disturbing to say the least but DC being the nations capitol should not ever have been allowed to become so dangerous. I cannot believe the homeless encampments everywhere it’s really embarrassing.

Learned today that it’s one of the worst of all capital cities in the world. Not sure the President should be taking such action to combat it but it needs to be fixed.

Well, given that DC is not a state nor is it a part of any state and congress retains the right to intervene in local affairs, IMO it's about time someone took control of the shit democrats are allowing and remind them that DC is not a state for them to treat as some democrat sanctuary shithole that can run rampant with crime and homelessness.

Like I said, I get it, just uneasy seeing the feds 'take over' a city police force. The crime problem's not getting any better so hopefully this works and we don't get groups protesting and stirring shit up all over. It'll be good to see them clear out once the job is done, hopefully soon so I can wipe this look off my face

People are already protesting the decision. I’m with you, having the National Guard clean shit up is very sketchy, and will most definitely fuel the “nazi” and “dictator” bullshit the dems feed upon.

probably so, but they have done more "nazi, dictator" shit because they feel they can break all the rules and violate our rights because "democracy is at stake"?

Fuck their false flag high moral ground bullshit; if they can't take care of shit, someone has to step up and do it

Look at the gerry mandering they've done and they have the balls to say Texas is wrong; but when confronted about the shit they've done or are doing to remain in power they justify it with "democracy is at stake"... fucking pisses me off

I totally agree with you. The feds are not competent at taking over a domestic city (or any city). There will be many unforced errors.

This decision has attracted attention to greater DC being the shit-hole that it is, much like cities like Baltimore. A large portion of the population is black, which will not be ignored by the media during this limited crackdown.

^^That^^ The concept of DC self rule is a fairly new concept. Nixon signed self rule into effect, before that it was fed. DC has never elected a single Republican to any position of power ever. It is a democrat plantation and it shows. Dangerous, crime infested shit hole. It’s really sad as it’s a beautiful city with so much to offer with museums galore and historical interests everywhere. We live fairly close by and still go there on occasion but I’m loath to be caught there after dark and believe me my heads on a swivel when I’m there. If they can get control of the crime I would be going there far more often.

I would bet there is more people calling for that than there was this. Or maybe it’s just the circles that I read in.
You must be joking or just too young to remember. School choice and or vouchers is something the GOP had been pushing for decades at the federal level and really really hard for a long time. Or at least, that's what they campaigned on. Even in a lot of states, this was a big issue especially if you lived in a big city like LA. Andrew went to a private school until middle school and it would have helped us greatly. I don't know if I ever even knew of the USDA or that it was a thing until I got older.

More WINNING!! This is literally something every GOP type had promised since the 80's but it took an orange man bad to make it happen.
It would have been even better to enact a law which says that all public moneys allocated for education are to be divided equally across all eligible (i.e. in the district area) students and available to use for the school of their choice (public or private). This would benefit poor/disadvantaged students as well as ones from wealthy families.

The tax write-offs turned into vouchers could be added to the above.

Can't say I've ever heard of someone complaining about not being able to send their kids to a school they want. Is $1,700 a needle mover when it comes to private schools? Average cost of private school is $13,000 a year. Maybe I am missing the point of this but I guess I don't understand how it is a big deal. Most parents complain about the education system but make zero effort to make it better or send their kids to other schools or homeschool. I fail to see how $1,700 a year will change a parents mind on sending their kid to a private school that costs 6 times that amount. And only if their entire state opts in.

Kinda hard to homeschool your kid(s) when you're barely living paycheck to paycheck even with both parents having to work. Kinda hard to find any amount of money more than you've already paid in taxes to to do it too. And yeah, that was Cindy and I. We worked harder and longer to make it happen for Andrew because the schools in our neighborhood at the time sucked and it killed us. Any help we could have gotten, we would have been all to happy to take. But hey, maybe it's just me who doesn't understand.
