Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It was all going so well, too. For future reference, the TIRES go on the rocks. Not the front differential.

I deserve any derogatory comments you may care to make. :thankyou:

This past weekend was my first time off-roading. Went to Wooly's offroad in Tennessee. A good friend started me off on easy trails and worked up from there based on how well I did. By mid-day he had me rock climbing. At one point I hit a rock on the underside...no damage but it sure made me cringe. I have a new respect for my Jeep now. It did things I didn't think it could do.

I wish it was my first time. Just a big brain fart, unfortunately. I love the tire tracks right next to the rock. I cringe every time I watch the video.

The worst is that you can see me looking to decide where I'm going to go at the end. I specifically drove to the right to drive over the rocks and then proceed to just drag myself across them. Terrible.

LOL! No worries. If it helps any...the sound I made on the rocks was alot worse. Didn't drag but sort of just clanged on top of it.

eh, I'm sure most of us have done that at some point. You didn't leave a puddle of diff fluid next to the rock, so it could've been worse.

I had to watch it twice to see what you were even taking about. I think it'll be fine. :idontknow:

I've done that quite often. One of the draw backs of a stock height jeep. On a side note, the factory gas tank skid is quite tough. Thing has taken a beating.

Did I miss something.......

Nope. The music sort of covers up the scraping noise of me dragging over the only rock capable of catching my underside. I literally could have picked any other line and not touched bottom.

Much ado about nothing really. Barely even scratched the paint on the diff.

Felt really silly about it so thought I'd share. There are already so many Supermen on here. Have to show a little stupidity to keep it interesting. :sFun_tease:

I did something similar on Drummond Island this year. I was the first in our group to climb Hallfrisch Hill without needing a winch or tow for the day. After picking the line, sliding, then making it anyhow, I had conquered the world. About 20 seconds later, after I'm on the top and on level ground rolling forward to give room to the group behind me.... THUNK! I drove the front diff right smack into a tree stump.

My wife had stopped the video just before I hit it. What's hilarious, is nearly everyone else who made it up the hill hit the same stump!

You've heard the one where pilots say good landings are the ones you can walk away from. You had a good landing.:thumb::thumb:
