My advice is to go with a 6.8 SPC. The total weight of the AR-10 platforms is unrealistic when on foot for a long time compared to the AR-15 platform that you can build the 6.8 in. IMO it's a solid caliber for anything from 0 to 500 yds.

LaRue and several other make great rifles, but most people can't really shoot any caliber with "high accuracy" out to 500 yds even with the best weapons money can buy. At the end of the day it comes down to the shooter. I hate seeing people waste a ton of money on built up rifles such as a LaRue and not shooting any better than they would with a Rock River. Not saying you couldn't, but I see it all the time.

Totally agree with this ^^^^!
My Rock River A2 National Match shots way better than I do and I can hold my own across the course 200, 300 & 600 with open A2 sights. With some time and a calm day can hit the 10ring at a grand 8 out of 10 times. This easily matches some rifles with price tags several times that of my RR!

A world class shooter can make a POS shoot well a average shooter cannot make a world class rifle perform any better than their abilities allow. Buy what you can afford and practice, practice, practice...nothing replaces trigger time and sending lead down range!!!!

Yep. I remember taking M16's that were on the verge of being shot out, were loose as hell at the pins, and still being able to shoot near perfect scores on the range. In fact, I never shot less than 8 out of 10 on the 500 silhouette with the A2/A4 sights. I'm not a bad ass, it just comes down to understanding the weapon and plenty of trigger time. I have friends that waste thousands on rifles, but not ammo.

Those days are long gone for me, being in my late 40s. Anything over 100m I need a scope.

Always loved the clean lines of the 1911 Colts and always wanted one. For some reason I just never found one at the right time & place.
I saw this one at my local gun shop and walked out 3 different times before I finally just bought the damn thing...

Very nice! Im a huge 1911 fan and of course, a colt fan. I'm trying to get hold of a Vickers 1911 right now. If that doesn't work out I'm going for a THUG 1911 (Twight Hard Use Gun). Both built off Colts, of course! Anyways, gorgeous sidearm! [emoji106]

Thank you and wow, both of those are absolutely badass sidearms. Good luck!

Looks like the Wiley Clap Edition. I have a soft spot for 1911s....look like you got yourself a real nice one.

Thanks, and you are correct of course! Reason I didn't buy this first time was the brass sights. The rest of the gun? Like seeing a lifted Jeep on big tars!
Sights ended up being absolutely no issue.
