Shock mounting question

Been seeing a lot of this up here in Alaska lately and just wondering what's the deal? Is there a reason shocks are mounted "upside down"? Does it hinder the operation of them at all? Or does it really even matter?

It's not upside down. Some manufacturers put the body on the top and some put it on the bottom.

lol I had to remove it due to my lift height. Driveshaft was basically tearing itself apart so I removed it before it could do any real damage, and it was just about at full extension so it wouldn't have lasted much longer anyways.

The important thing is to make sure you put them in the right way up. As in which ever way they were designed to be fitted otherwise they won't work properly
