So this means you are now getting the correct info on your gas mileage. Do you figure your mileage by hand or use the Jeeps average per mile read out?
Since you had one of your heads replaced this could also help your mileage also.

The 12mpg was hand calculated from my cross country, all highway, drive going average of 70-75mph. I agree that the head may have something to do with the milage being soo bad(12mpg) in the first place. But after the was replaced, and I had not yet istalled the procal, I was still having a readout of around 13 so idk. I am going to manual calculate the next 5 tanks and report back the average of all of those. I just filled up earlier today to start it.

Wow! That is a difference. Is that with 35's?

Yup 35's! I truely cant feel the difference in them vs stock with the 3.6L...I love this engine IF IT QUITS BREAKING! :icon_crazy:
 
If your speedo isn't calibrated how were you hand calculating it. The mileage would be off unless you had someone walk next to you counting the feet.
 
Thatta Boy! I went 100 miles per the mile-markers and compared that to my mileage on the speedo and used the percent off to figure out my actual MPG.

Wow. That seems like a lot of work for something that is relatively immaterial. Kudos to you.

But just so you know there is an app for that. ;)

I am actually a numbers freak and always need to know these things. After the first two fill-ups I was blown away with how bad the MPG's were so I had to calculate it more accurately hoping it would be better......but that didnt help :grayno: Im happy now though.
 
Fender trim

I used WAL's write up to perform my fender trim. i didnt, however, remove mine from the vehicle. I didnt have anything to hold the fender or support structure with. I taped off one side how i wanted it.

I then took measurements to be able to replicate on the other side

And then the cutting began. I started with a pneumatic saw from Harbor freight

But that was taking too long so I upgraded to a 3" cut off tool and that blew through the material!

After cutting the inner fender liners to line up to the fender-well

I then secured the liner to the fender-well with a zip tie

And this is the final product. I am debating on weather stripping/molding to give it a finished look

Looks good Chris! I also left my fenders on when i trimmed them I found its easier to just leave them on the jeep keeps then steady as you make your cuts! For a slow build your moving along quite nicely!
 
Haha, I kept them on the body and even zip tied the inner liner just like that! Haha. That hole in the body right there was just aching to be zip tied... Looks good. Waiting for warm weather to put the door trim around mine. Still 50F here...

Thanks! I got a bit done pretty quickly, but phases II and III are going to be my slowest due to current lack of garage and tools since Im traveling for work. Mostly little things will get done over the next couple months.

With any luck II and III will be done sooner rather than later but didnt want to give people the idea I would get it done fast and then hit a snag/delay due to my always changing work(ahem like I did on my last build)

If it were my Jeep I would put the trim on the fenders for the more finished look, but that's just me

Ive seen a few in person with the molding, and I agree it gives it a really nice finished look. Im wanting my dune to look a little rugged and the trim is shiny. I cant decide :crazyeyes:

It does work perfectly. I understand about the weather...it was mid 20's out when I cut my fenders. You can see that I was wearing my leather bailing gloves because the pneumatic tools were getting too cold and actually ended up freezing to the gloves. :eek: this is a pic of my Jeep a few days before I cut them.

I actually does have a snorkel. It does from the grill up to the airbox to force air in lol

Didn't you just move out here to SoCal?

Yeah I was in Hawaii for 5 months before coming here 2 months ago, but I lived in dana point for 9 months before that. My girlfriend(lives in socal) is going to start doing what I do and we travel together. She only has 2 days left of work so after Hawaii I just took 2 months off work and visited family and came to socal to get stuff ready for our next move.
 
umm wow...just realized I gave a lot of personal info that no one probably even cares about lol

I should have just said "yeah I move a lot" :yup:
