Caught the Bug
I have a couple of questions on stock rubicon axle shafts, lockers and future upgrades. My rear factory locker has died, it has what i suspect an internal fault that causes the fuse to blow which doesn't allow me to use the front locker, for now i have disconnected the wiring harness for the rear locker from the relay so that i can continue to use the front locker.
What i know is that the stock front axle shafts are 30 spline and that the rear axle shafts are 32 spline for Rubicon axles, also the rear axle shafts are different sizes. i paid a visit to the ARB website and saw that they have a RD157 option that require 35 spline axle shafts for Rubicon housings, i believe i was told by Wes at trail jeeps that this locker would fit in my PR44 for factory locker.
my questions are:
1) does the RD157 locker fit in the front(PR44) and the rear(stock) axle housings?
2) do more splines = thicker, stronger shafts?
3) since new shafts would be required for the rear, would the new 35 spline shafts be of equal length?
4) what other options are there to replace rubicon lockers?
thanks in advance!
