For what it's worth me and a buddy have the same rk lift and same tires. Only difference is the shocks .His are 5100 ' s and I have ome long travels. The ome ride softer and both of us agree on it. Ome are great shocks for the price and something you may want to try in the meantime before you get the Kings.
I have run both shocks and would agree that OME's can feel softer but Bilsteins feel more responsive. Again, it's all subjective. I have recently started testing out rancho 7000 mt and like them a lot too.

i could not agree more with eddie that ride is totally subjective! my two different lifts i have had/have was a Skyjacker BB and the 2.5' teraflex lift with Bilstein 5100's. me personally i like a stiffer feeling ride (for now until i ride in Hinrich's jeep with the plush rides). the skyjacker was HORRIBLY stiff and wayyy stiffer then i liked. the teraflex lift i have is stiff but the bilsteins help smoothen it out to a degree. im sure when i feel the plush ride coils i will change my mind tho. untill then i am happy with what i have.

2-4 lbs. will be smoother but it'll be far from making a tank like ride plush.
FACT: Plush Ride coils with Fox 2.0's and brand X tire running 28 psi WILL offer a softer ride than RK coils with Fox 2.0's and brand X tire running 28 psi. Whether or not you prefer a softer ride does not change this fact.

I do like RK but also like other manufactures, actually thinking about getting a ORE kit once the LS and prorocks are in.
I don't think their is a Best kit as every manufacture has pluses and minuses..unlike some that get sponsored parts I have to weigh whats the best IMO for the $.
I stand by what I have said, shock valving will make more of a difference than spring rate. Their isn't a huge difference in spring rates as the spring still have to support the weight.
But there is big differences in shock manufactor's valving

I felt the same way with the RK 2.5" in my 4dr with 5100s. When I traded in the 4dr for a 2dr I put the RK lift in I could not stand it came out about as fast as it went in. I can remember when I posted my f-250 was better then my jeep o boy everyone was all over that with all the prius comments.

I’m running evo plush coils and rubicon express shocks, which are basically blistein 5100 and the ride is right in the middle... not to harsh and not too soft.
P.S: The reason that I went the route of the rubicon express shock, was availability in case of replacement, here as the local shop is a 4wheel parts, and the Salt on a blistein.. in our climate oxidizes the heck out of them.

Awesome! I'd love to hear what 3" and 4" coils and shocks you have run and in what combination and SPECIFICALLY on your JK. I would love to compare notes with what I have experienced. :yup:
And, as I always state, ride comfort and quality is 100% subjective. While I do think there is a "best", it is subjective to each individual person.

Funny, I have tested out some pretty stiff springs with multiple shocks that were specifically valved for a JK and my ride still felt like crap. But, you're the expert here so I guess I'll just have to take your word for it.
LOL!! What??? AEV and Currie both sell dual rate coils and, while I'm not a fan of them due to the fact that they prevent your axle from stuffing, they still offer a pretty nice ride. In fact, I would go so far as to say that there is a BIG difference between them and RK coils. Fact of the matter is, on a dual rate coil, there are two different spring rates and if the softer side is going solid due to the weight it's supporting, the only thing you would feel is the firm side. But hey, you seem to be the expert here - what would I know.

I'm running RK's 3.5 x factor pro mid w/ king 2.5. Super stiff and sometimes bouncy ride - all towards the front end. If the undulations in the road surface are just right and repetitious (like a bridge roadway), it makes for an uncomfortable almost unsafe feel which leads me to slow down. I'm sure the suspension is fine, but I cannot help but think the stiffness may be impacting other components. Probably not, but given I'm ready to swap my axles with new dynatracs, I'm thinking it may be time to swap in some plush ride coils and see how it goes. Offroard, no complaints at all. If my JK was a daily driver, I would have made the switch a while back. RK is coming out with new springs soon, but they will not be ready next when I install my dynatracs, so "operation ORE plush ride coils" is underway. :yup:

Seriously, I talk to tons of people all the time with RK kits and hear THE EXACT SAME THING. I assure you that you will be MUCH happier with Plush ride coils. I would even say that you would be happier with OME med duty coils or even Full Traction coils but, Plush rides are much better.

Cool! If everything else remains pretty much the same (lift height, front to back ride height remains level, offroad performance) and I can achieve a softer ride on the road, I will be a happier camper! Definitely worth a try. :beer:

Can u compare the Plush Ride coils vs AEV 2.5" coils?? I running a light Jeep front and rear. I don't hate the ride of the AEV, but I would assume it could be better.
Sure can. The Plush Ride coils are first and foremost designed to offer the most comfortable ride possible and, in my opinion, they do this very well. The down side to them is that if you load up your Jeep with a ton of gear and passengers, you will see them sag. Like all dual rate coils, the AEV's try to give you the best of both worlds - a decent ride while still being able to carry a heavy load without too much sag and, while they do the later well, when it comes to ride quality, I still would personally argue that the Plush Rides offer a more comfortable ride. But again, ride quality is 100% subjective.

I have run procomp, rock krawler, and am now running the Evo enforcer. The Evo springs are not only the softest, but they provide an amount of stability. It's all relative to user preference. Before you buy a set of over priced gimmick coils, give the plush ride coils a try atleast.

Seriously, when you've had a chance to test out multiple coils, you really do get a clear picture as to what ones you like better and why.
