Sweet rig, nice to see another CJ! Something about older Jeeps that just make you smile when you see them. Cant wait for ours to be back together.

My son has been driving the CJ and told me it was having issues while accelerating. Took it for a test spin and sure enough it feels like the file filter is clogging. Drives ok until you accelerate and then it bogs.

Took apart the fuel filter and all was well. Fuel was clear and had no sediment. On to the gas tank. Gas gague hasn't worked since the Rubicon.

Dropping the tank.

Things seemed ok. Sending until maybe going out. Then we looked inside. Fees the filter on the prev unit failed and dropped into the tank.

Ordered a new sending unit. We will see after the reinstall if we fixed it.

Stay tuned

A few more of the stuff in the tank

The tank could use a bit more cleaning. There was about a 1/4 inch of dirt on top.

This is awesome! Cant believe its the first time ive seen it. Someday hopefully I will have the space and time to restore an old CJ to!

I remember going through all that on my 76 CJ. Almost every time the story ended with a bad ignition control module. Just a thought.

Actually I'm pretty sure based on the amount of gas left in the tank when we pulled it, my sons calculation about how much fuel was left may be the real cause. Either way the gas gauge will work now.

Good read, will have tons of questions for you once mine arrives and I begin building. Still haven't told the girlfriend so that should make for a fun story lol

Installed the spacers and painted a few things to clean it all up. Maybe the tires will stop rubbing on the springs.
