So a guy I know just bought an Xterra.....well another buddy of his has one as well and they were talking about taking their "offroad vehicles" on an offroad trial. So they did some research and then he asked me if I had ever heard of Rausch Creek. I told him yeah I have been there a few times its a lot of fun and he proceeded to ask if I would ever lead him and his buddy around the trails.

I feel bad because he seemed very interested and maybe the green trails and a ride down the quarry but he was also previously a BMW owner and one of those guys who just keeps his vehicles spotless and mint. I don't think he really knows what he would be getting into. Anyone else ever denied going to Rausch for a reason like this? :naw:

And on that note has anyone ever wheeled or know someone who has a built up Xterra? I have personally never seen one.

He could make the green trails out there. I don't think he would do too much damage.

On a side note, the xterra is the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven.

I have seen a few built up online and they look pretty cool and can be wheeled with a lot of money into them. But not for me.

That's funny because I saw an X-terra at Rausch on Sunday...Bone stock! Didn't talk to him but I am assuming he didn't do anything but greens. If you do lead them I wouldn't take them on anything but greens all day.

If you look in the background you can see the guys truck..........

Been there with cozdude his pops showed up with a stock xterra didn't do to bad made it through lots of greens some blues but took a little damage

I've read reviews of Xterra's and Frontiers side curtain airbags popping while going 1-2mph off road for no reason and warranty claims going ignored by Nissan. B/t that and all the plastic that's on there, I'd be a little wary of taking it on trails especially w/o a lift and tossing out those street tires. Even the PRO-4x (Off-Road version of the xterra) comes with a BFG Rugged Trail tires that don't have what I'd call an aggressive tread pattern. They've got the power/torque to do it (excellent engines!), but they need a few more mods than any stock Wrangler before hitting the trails imho. :twocents:

That being said, if I'm at RC at the same time, I've got no problem leading their group through the greens. Team low & slow is always ready! :D

Yup, Blues on any stock vehicle will take damage...you need ground clearance!

The guy I wheel with regularly has a built 4runner. And we run into xterra's out there too.

I don't think he plans on building it up at all. My guess is, he is more interesting in doing "overlanding" :bleh:

Like seanb123 said. My dad has a bone stock xterra pro-4x model and did greens and blues with it. The only things that took decent damage was his mud flaps which broke off and the driver side rear sway bar snapped off. Otherwise it did great there. They can do greens no problem
