I haven't even thought about what to pack. Getting a list together tonight. But I did install the CB today. Just need to tune it I guess. Never had one before so all new. I mounted the antenna stud, routed the cable, and have the CB ready to go. Can't wait until Friday night!! :rock:

And I can't wait :yup: Nice thing about living here without the wife and kids right now is I can throw everything in the Jeep Wednesday night (late work night on Thursday) and be ready to go. It will not take me very long. It is about the only stuff in my room, camping stuff and my tools. Just need to stop and get some food on the way out on Friday. I hope I can get on the road by 2 or 3. Almost a 5 hour drive for me. Have a fire ready because I will be ready to pull up a chair. :clap2:

Anyone ever tune a Firestik KW antenna? It is the original without the tuning knob on top. I just realized the antenna a buddy gave me is a KW and not a II.

From what I understand you have to cut the top off to tune it. :thinking:

So your stretching out the wire and need to go further with it? Thats what I did. I cut a little of the wire off and adjusted the swr and when that didn't work I cut a little more of the wire till it dialed in.

Ok. Well Ed is bringing his SWR meter this weekend so I will adjust at camp. Just wanted to make sure I don't need to buy a newer antenna. First time messing with all this antenna tuning stuff. Thanks.

Lol I just got mine two, learned everything from utube. And it was on the intranet so I know its right . lol

Well I'm gona be a big pain in the ass and impose on you guys - I'm most likely bringing the skid plate to camp Friday to put on with all of your assistance. I'll bring some extra liquor for your troubles ;-)
