California’s new tax: A monthly subscription to use state roads
To me it makes sense to charge proportionally for the use of roads rather than based on the value of the vehicle. The vehicle registration fees in California are outrageous. I was never a fan of toll roads but paying to use roads makes a lot more sense than paying arbitrary and capricious fees based on the value of a vehicle, or whether it is electric or gas.

In Texas we encounter lots of toll roads and with a toll tag on the windshield, things work out fine.

Once this passes, I'm sure they'll lower vehicle registration fees.

Maybe they'll remove the crazy gas taxes so we can pay what everyone else pays for gas!
