oh, I don't blame them solely, but it's certainly not just the youth's fault. Quite a few of the boomers refuse to take their damn blinders off.

I live NW of Pittsburgh in a county with a bunch of old steel mill towns in it. The old mill workers that are left and their families, as well as that generation that grew up with the mills' halo effects throughout the region, are staunch democrats that refuse to see what the party has become.
It's the same throughout most of Western Pa, Eastern Oh, and WV.
That's because THEIR Democrat party did a LOT for them. They don't understand that the current Democrat party bleeds their kind dry and gives them nothing in return. The Unions still preach to this day what the Democrats do for the Union workers. The problem is it's all a lie. The Democrats now give nothing in return for the political dollars they reap.

You have to realize, when you talk about Boomers and their politics, they still think in the terms of JFK, which in itself was a fairy tale. They don't realize that JFK would be considered a leftist Republican now.

The current lean of the Democrat party is the fault of the youth. Boomer Democrats were the epitome of God, Country, Family. That statement can't be made of the Socialist Left.

So you're saying the old school democrats get a pass for the current state because they refuse to acknowledge the changes over the years?

Solely the youth? So all of the 40-60YO folks get a pass for the mess they engineered?

First, you want to blame Boomers, then you come back with an age group that's mostly not Boomers. I'm just outside of Boomer classification and more than half of your age group is younger than me. So no, I don't blame Boomers. If you look at the statistics for age groups, and divide the 45-64 year old bracket in half, you have more non-Boomers voting than Boomers. Now if you look at it from another perspective, a larger percentage of Boomers vote than the other groups, but the number isn't greater than the others.

You want changes, look at Biden before he was VP and then look at Biden since he was a VP. Old Biden would be a strong Republican by current terms. Now ask yourself what changed and when. I'll stick by it, blame the youth movement Socialist Left.

Oh, I forgot a point, the Boomers that vote Democrat, aren't voting for the "old" party or the "new" party.

They're voting their pockets. The main thing any Republican running for major office wants to do is cut Social Security, which by the way is not a hand out program but a forced participation program. The Boomers want the money that was promised to them from day one and that they paid for.

If you can't see that, you're too close and need to back up. I can't blame ANY retired person that votes their bank account.

Tell the Republicans to back off of SS and you'll see a change in voting patterns.

Democrats put all their emotional driven messages out with "will" and conviction, Republicans' use "maybe", lack conviction or any response for the Democrat messages they should be countering with the same strong conviction.

When Democrats state Republicans want to "chop" SS, Republicans counter with what may as well be crickets, "no we don't". Doesn't help that the current MSM becomes an echo chamber to whatever message no matter how asinine or wrong the democrats put out.

The reality is what Democrats propose would create a greater realized cut to SS than what Republicans propose. Either way, they both want to raise the age when you can collect your forced participation monies.
Democrat messaging always comes across scarier and with more conviction and people are too fucking lazy to listen critically and do their own investigating for the truth.

the hell you goin off on? I said boomers in my area pull the D lever, not that they are the cause of every thing wrong with the democrat party. You said it’s the younger generation not me. Are they partly to blame? Yeah for sure.

you can’t divide the 45-64 bracket in half & say less boomers vote because that’s not the age bracket for boomers - the cutoff is 57 or 58 I believe

Feel free to post any rant you’d like, that’s fine by me, but don’t try to tie what I posted into some other point you’re trying to make. They’re 2 different things

Proposals about SS payout amounts are not worth anything without considering the national debt. The payouts are coming out of future national debt (given that SS is funded like a Ponzi scheme) so it is important to keep our government's AAA credit rating so that the national debt can continue to rapidly increase during our remaining lifetimes. This is becoming more and more to accomplish as we become a less productive society.
