plastic engine cover

I always thought jeep intended it as a dust cover, but that is just a guess.

A few people I know trashed theirs because they thought it trapped heat. Logically seems to me that it would keep heat in, but I have never tested it.

Coincidentally took mine off my JK for the first time last week at 120K miles.

My throttle body position sensor plug is cracked and I have it electrical taped up. Was thinking ditching the cover might keep the tape from melting as much, hah.
what year and which part of the plug?
mine cracked on my 2010 jk, bought a new plug that came pre-wired but rather then cut and splice wires, I found it was relatively easy to de-pin them both and use the new plug with the original wires.

Yup, I know the part you’re talking about. Mines a 2016, so 3.6, but same idea.

I bought that kit because I broke a wire (like a dumbass) and needed to splice one. Replaced the plug at the time, a few years ago, and have since broken the plastic taking it on and off.

Wish I could buy just the plastic housing for the plug, but seems like they only come in full $150 wiring kits…

Might just buy the Ali baba Wish Amazon special and throw away the wires and see if the plastic housing fits..

I liked the one on my JK because it was a good place to secure a burrito to heat it up on the way to the trail. My Gladiator didn't come with one so no warm burritos at the trail head. I asked at one of the local dealerships and they said there was some production issues because of covid so they stopped putting them in, not sure if thats true.

All I know is that if there’s anyone in the Central Valley that has one for the JK/JT 3.6L that’s sitting around in their way then I have room for it here at my place.😉
