Caught the Bug
I have a 2013 that has started to smell like burning oil when parked after driving it a while. There is also an oil consumption issue, but no visible leaks. I’ve already replaced the rear main, valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket. No oil under the Jeep. The only thing I can think of is the PCV. Is there another indicator I can check to verify this? Or is it time to replace anyhow? I’ve got 167k miles.

Pcv is a one way check valve. You should be able to blow air thru it only one way.

have you checked the oil cooler valley?
flashlight will reflect the oil or as in this pic, I slide a long zip tie down along the fill neck

I second this. I already went through this. There was no visible leak until it finally gave way but the oil filter housing was leaking. I replaced it a year ago and no leaks since. Another thing to do is to looked near the PCV valve down to the side of the the 02 sensor(passenger side towards the tire) and look for burning oil. Maybe where oil spilled from changing the oil or something. My PCV valve was gone so I changed it also when I was chasing codes. The PCV was needing changing but my issue was a fuel injector which has been fixed. I had a burning smell and it went away when I carefully sprayed simple green and carefully pressued washed the area. I need to scrub that area with a scrubbing cloth as the oil burned on from when the oil filter housing leaked and although it was replaced, I didn't clean it well enough. Here is a pic of my culprit. When I remove the tire, I’ll get at it better and scrub the crap out of it with a degreaser.

oil cooler valley is clear. Had the oil cooler replaced at about 115k; had a severe leak leading up to it. Thanks for all the input here. Great forum with some great info. I'll crawl around a bit more. If anyone had a PCV go bad, how much oil would you consume? I have found that every 2 months or so I am about a half a quart down.

How many miles within that half a quart? Half a quart isn’t much and within a tolerable range if it’s anything over 1k miles
