Caught the Bug

That sucks, sorry it happened and thanks for your service! :usa:
Depends...on the type of paint splattered on your rig. It's been a long while, but there was a time when I was an auto body apprentice. I can't remember the particulars of the type of spilled paint, but we used something like a commercial "goo-gone", wet sanded and buffed on all painted items of the victim vehicle. As I remember it was a early 90's Chevy Malibu which had little plastic on it but the wheel wells. I honestly can't remember if those were replaced or repaired.
About a year ago I ran over some very freshly applied paint lines on the road in my JKU. There were little chunks of yellow everywhere. I slapped some goo-gone on there, cleaned and waxed the painted parts. I used soap, water and lots of elbow grease to get it off the fenders and bumpers and 303'd it afterwards. This was a very minor amount compared to what happened to yours.
Again, sorry it happened and I hope it's a quick fix to return it to it's damn near new former glory.
Go to your local auto parts store and get a cleaning kit with a clay bar and after you wash it follow the instructions and you should get it off. Then re-wash and throw on a coat of wax.
Thanks. I should say I'm over here working as a civilian on a contract for the State Dept now, and no longer in the military or affiliated with the DoD. I got out of the Corps in 2010. I don't put up with near the danger and tough conditions our military does over here. Our own secure camp on base with my own room with shower and ice cold a/c, and our own vehicles to get around the airfield to the dfac and px. Hats off to them.
The guy said it was water based paint. I know they can replace the plastic parts that got sprayed if they don't come clean. Just hope they can get the paint looking new again without a respray.
Dropped the Jeep off at the body shop the day after Memorial Day and just picked it up yesterday. Turned out great. None of the Anvil paint and to be resprayed because they were able to get all of the white paint off with a clay bar and a lot of man-hours getting it clean. They did have to replace every piece of plastic trim on the Jeep. Both bumpers, all 4 flares, all 4 inner fender liners, all window rubber seals, all 4 door handles, both mirrors, the filler cap housing, and the license plate holder. Also had to replace the driver side tires and the spare tire. Cost the insurance company of the guy who dumped the paint on the road over $8k. So glad my wife was able to get the guy's insurance info. Jeep looks brand new! Bummer is I go back to work in Kabul next week, and have had pretty much no time with my Jeep this month off from work.
