P0461 - Fuel Level Sensor 1 Performance

On our way home from SEMA, BANDIT had his check engine light come on and the DTC for it was "P0461 - Fuel Level Sensor 1 Performance". Granted, we were hitting a headwind and we weren't getting the best MPG in the world but I feel like we've been in similar situations or worse and have never seen this before. Any of you ever get a P0461 code before?

Either way, we're still under warranty and while this may be a whole lot of nothing, I think we'll take him into the dealership and create a paper trail, just in case.

I haven’t had any experience with this code. A quick search found this link-

Hope this helps
Yeah, I looked up the code too. That's why I mentioned the headwind we were hitting. For the amount of fuel we started with, we should have been able to cover a lot more miles but weren't able to and so I was thinking that might be the reason for it. I'd like to think it's not a sending unit issue especially on a Jeep that is still so new.

Again, I have no experience with this code. That said, I would look at the sensor and wiring first.

Heh! I’m not used to having a warranty. That’s why my default is to troubleshoot the problem myself😝

The ex had this on her Cadillac, they had to replace the fuel pump; in her case, both fuel pumps because Cadillac decided a more fucked up fuel system was required to feed all that power

Seriously! All this just sucks. If there's an upside, we're almost at 30k on the odometer and could easily rack up 6k in no time at all. As in, I'm glad I decided to take it in and have it covered under warranty. Now the question is, how long will we be out of a Jeep
Good thing you have more than one 🤣

Yeah, sucks it happened at all but great it was before the warranty is up.

Well son of a bitch. As if things couldn't get worse LOL! Just heard from the dealership and apparently, BANDIT does in fact need a new sending unit. Of course, they are showing that the units are on back order with NO ETA
I swear they gave up on QC and they decided that allowing failure rates would be cheaper than having good QC, especially if they fall out of warranty.

Good you got it in under the wire but damn, 2 down,

Definitely feel lucky.

It's so frustrating. Moby being down due to a problem with an engine swap - I get it. Our big Gladiator having issues because we highly modified it - I get it. But this problem, a sending unit problem and on a new Jeep?? This is just BS. Really disappointed in Jeep. And, now that I think about it, we had a stuck button on our center stack on our brand new RAM. Stellantis is really sucking big time on the QC.

Good news is that it’s a powertrain warranty coverage so at least it’s free. Hoping they can find one at a dealer somewhere across the country that’s willing to sell it
