Old Vs New- built either way

Well, I'm not giving up hope on the recovery of my 08' JKU, but the wheels are turning in my head. The police and insurance only give a 30% chance of recovery after the first 48 hours (and even the police said it was most likely over the border already). I'm starting to think about a new build. I had a lot invested into the 08' and wouldn't have changed a thing! It took me where ever I wanted to go. Now, thinking of a new build. Cash isn't flowing a quickly as it had in the years past and I want to build it Better, Faster, Stronger!
I'm seriously thinking of finding a four door in great shape body wise and inside. I don't even care about motor, trans, transfer case or axles. I'm thinking of using motec for motor and trans, atlas transfer case, Dynatrac 60 and 80 with DTD's. Obviously I'll be building it in phases but hoping I can do some of the work.
Or, start with a new Rubi and build it slower and not as "beefy".....

Thoughts???????

I have a 2014 JKUR and had a 07JKUX. With the initial purchase price plus the mods I have done. I probably spent enough on the'14 that I could have have put an LS, DTD and be saving my pennies for the slabs, Dynatracs and 40s on the 07. It is what do you want in the end. The $35k +/- for a new Rubicon could go a long way in parts.

If money is going to be tight and you dont feel like you can get a sport or x or whatever, I would buy a rubicon if you could. Get it up on 35s at least and use it. Then when you can upgrade you could sell the rubicon stuff. You've already owned one built/capable so it be hard (for me anyways) to buy a sport and be stuck with it waiting on when I could afford mods.

If I had the money to get the DTD, dynatracks, 40s, etc. then I would definately buy a sport as your getting rid of the rubicon stuff.

Im having this same debate myself as we are thinking of trading in the wifes car on a four door, or a grand cherokee. She likes the GC so we may go that route. We've talked about a sport and I would get it to build as I am itching to go to 37s already. She would get the rubi we currently own and it would stay as is except for swapping bumpers. I don't think we are going to do that though as we don't have the money to jump right out and buy a front axle, lift, tires, armor, tire carrier, regear, lockers, etc. to get the sport to what I want on 37s. So if we decide on a four door, it will be hers and will get just a leveling kit and 33s as time and money allows. If we are lucky enough we will get another rubi and it will still get the leveling kit and 33s and we will have a decent little driver that we could do some mild wheeling in when needed/wanted.

Was seeing if there was any update on you getting a new ride or not. Also any luck on the recovery?

No news on the recovery. I still have 14 days waiting period through the insurance. I plan on posting up how things go with insurance so others can learn what to do/ not to do for future. I have every receipt that I have spent on it. We will see what they give me for it if it's not found... Thanks for asking.
I'm leaning towards finding an older JK and doing an engine swap with new axles and lift etc.

There's some cheap 2wd 4 doors on the market (12-14k) cheap.

I'm just not sure what the computer will do converting them to 4wd.

Nice!!! I found an 08 with almost 200K miles today. 4x4 in Awesome shape!! Only wants $14K.

If you go that route make sure you start a build thread. I like reading through build threads to give me ideas and insight on how to do things. I am not very mechanically inclined but I do learn things fairly quickly.
