NEED LIFT ADVICE! 2014 unlimited hard rock

Sharkey, everyone else, I'm new to the forum, sorry for the additional posts! Won't happen again! I'm looking to do trails like Black Bear Pass in Telluride, the Rubicon, no triple black diamond stuff, more than anything street/trail performance is key. As far as the 6" with 35" tires they went that route based on the amount of flex you can get but I keep hearing that anything over 4" is too much for a weekend warrior like mine.

Any advice on 35" v 37"? I prefer 37's but I don't want to snap my factory Dana 44's and want to keep 4.10 gearing. Should I stick with 35" tires based on this, or are the D44'd and 4.10
Enough for 37"
Tires?

If you wanna go that route than stick with 35's. What's your budget?

Most of us will swear by Off-Road Evolution aka EVO. Again go look at their coilover kit. Do it right the first time. As far as gearing goes it depends on what you wanna do with your jeep. Are you planning on rock crawling a lot or are you more of a look cool when going down the road?

Off Road Evolution aka ORE Is not the same as EVO Manufacturing. ORE is a shop that installs and sells lifts, EVO manufactures lifts components.

As mention OP you cannot go wrong with the EVO Enforcer and EVO draglink flip kit. Search for the "Enforcers Unite" thread.

Edit: I am running the 3" Enforcer with flat fenders and 37" tires. I have gone to local club events that had an RTI ramp and can say that the enforcer paired the right sized shocks can give you plenty of flex. I know I have more flex then some 6" lift kits.

Jake Wilson, my budget is around $5K. Do you say stick with 35's due to the D44's and gearing?

With 37s you really need 4.88s or 5.13s. Eventually you will want a different front axle, like a pro rock 44 as the axle tubes are thicker and the end forgings are also thicker and stronger. You will eventually need front axle shafts with full circle clips (really a good upgrade no matter what tire size) and the factory lockers have issues on 37s if your wheeling it hard.

Sounds like you want the jeep as high as possible without mods in driveline. Are you going to wheel it? If so what type of terrain? If you want to safely wheel 37" tires then you need to research the mods needed. I think they are covered multiple times in many threads and even a sticky in jk section.

Lol I am slow at typing and you answered my ? While typing.

I may have had a little to much to drink. Lmao thank you for correcting my post. He is 100% correct.

I do want it as high as possible without driveline mods, yes. Budget constraints. Just bought the jeep, and I want to get bigger tires, as the off-road OHV park showed my beak over angle is not ideal (I drug it on the skip plates) but no damage, just want to keep as much stock drivability and stock equipment as possible. If 35's are the key, (which it sounds like they are) which brands of lift? I see the EVO, anything else?

Terrorflex
Terrorflex
Terrorflex

unless you are looking for a good lift instead. :idontknow:

I'll be taking it off-road, hitting mud, sand, scree, boulders, gravel, dirt, etc. everyone has been saying NO TERAFLEX!, to which I'm very thankful, so which direction to go? Thanks again!!

Cut the stock fenders=free
Leveling kit =$150
Wheels tires =$1500-$3000
Wheel it for a bit with 35" and see how you like it. It will surprise you and still drive like stock. Do more research before you buy lift.

I think you should run a leveling kit or a budget boost for awhile and see how it goes. You may like it and keep it. That's what I did. But I decided after awhile that I did want that nicer lift so I went with the evo enforcer. I have loved it ever since.

Ubbb69, I honestly thought I'd done enough research. Teraflex kept coming up! I'd love alternatives!! I have had lifted vehicles in the past; would just love some advice on a 3"-6" lift, should I go long arm? I know what's entailed there, no more factory mounts, and you bed to work on pinion and driveline angles, but what about a 3" or 4 inch short arm? I know there are also 8-arm 3" long arm kits, and after days/hours talking to folks on trails, reading, etc., I'd love to know your thoughts!

Thanks TennJK! The leveling kits are not what I'm looking for, I want to go full on suspension lift. I've started with body lifts and leveling kits on other rigs in the past and I always ended up w suspension anyhow.

Regardless of lift size, a good formula for determining appropriate gear ration for axles is:

(New tire size) X stock gear ratio/ stock tire size= new gear ratio
37 x 4.10 / 31 (basically stock tire size)(o.d.) = 4.77 》 4.88 gears.
EVO is awesome for all that I have heard about them, great craftsmanship, rugged ect. Personally, I have BDS and truly anything guaranteed for life, "if it breaks, we replace it free, no questions asked" is as good as it can get.

Well I started with leveling kit and when I go to a lift it will be an evo lift. Really they should have an option that suits you and back up their product. I can not say I would look at long arm as an option for jku or that I would go over 3". After 2" you need to look at front driveshafts if offroad.

You can get away from driveline mods for a while but you will eventually need them. Let me give you a history of my jeeps progress.

1. 37s
2. Flat fenders
3. Bumpstops
4. Axle C gussets

Two Weeks later

5. New front ball joints, possibly over heated OEM balljoints when installing gussets.

A couple months later

4. EVO enforcer 3" with draglink flip kit and fox shocks for 4-6" lift
5. Front drive shaft

Another couple months

5. Rear drive shaft boot tears
6. Bent rear axle flange

Currently

7. Balljoints worn out again (crown automotive)
8. steering is slowly becoming more difficult, and my power steering fluid resiviour is full....

I have a PR on the way with new Balljoints (figured I would upgrade since it was time for new gears), hydro assist kit, rear drive shaft, I have chromoly axle shafts waiting to be installed on all four corners.

If you don't want driveline issues stay under 2" lift and stay at 33" tires, lol, it doesn't sound like that is what you want so just be prepared to have driveline issues. This is only my experience though so take it for what it is. I would also say, LCG is what you want, back in the 90s it was cool to have a sky high jeep but now it's all about down travel. With 37s and a 3" lift you can get through a lot of stuff. If you are worried about dragging on the skids, don't, that's what they are there for!

Benito, thank you, this is kind of what I expected to hear. I saw a lot of Rubi's this weekend at the OHV park with stock running gear and 35-38" tires but you're probably right, in my own experience with 4x4's the axles always break and power is gone once above 37" tires (not a ton of my experience is wth Jeeps, as I've wanted one for 20+ years and just decided to pull the trigger). What does this mean??:I would also say, LCG is what you want, back in the 90s it was cool to have a sky high jeep but now it's all about down travel.
LCG?
