My UK JKU No3

So I’m on my 3rd JKU over here in the UK.

This one is a 2011 Sahara with a few mods already done, came with a £10,000 bill from Jeepey in the UK. It’s a 2.8 CRD with 105,000 miles on the clock.

Quite a few bits are not to my taste, also Jeep has been sat for nearly two years in the miserable UK weather.

This is how the jeep arrived.

Jeep No3 strip down and wash, also my 35’s fitted.

Arches, side steps, wheels, tow hooks, light bar etc all removed. Looking miles better already.

Jeep had a OME lift and a load of other bits already when I got it, just needed to be improved on.

I still have the 50” light bar and ditch lights from the white Jeep to go onto this.

Jeep looks fine - your weather doesn't incude much snow, does it? No salt or brine on the roads in the winter?
We currently have salt on the roads, it was around -2ish overnight last night. We get a lot of rain here too. This Jeep has been under sealed so that has helped protect it.

One thing I have to give props to Jeep engineers is for the corrosion resistance on the JK platform. Our roads are salted all winter long, and pre-treated with that brine nonsense ahead of time when we're getting a storm, so the vehicles that are prone to rusting are apparent after 5 years or so. Mid-teen pickups and Ford Escapes especially. I have yet to see a rusted JK, or even one with any rusted out panels for that matter.

Jeep No3 latest pictures.

Ambers, head lights, tail lights, tow hooks, arch kit etc all done now. Looking so much better now, also added a Xtrons carplay screen.

Still a few bits to add, also needs a really good clean and polish.

This is very true, they do hold up very well. I see JL owners having trouble with the door corrosion a lot, we have it with the wife’s WK2 on the leading edge of the hood.
I have owned a 2001 Ford Escape, known as a Ford Maverick over here. Super rare but very here, even more rare than the wrangler, haven’t seen a Maverick for years.

Jeep is covering the JL repaint if the vehicle meets some certain parameters. So as smart as the engineers were with the JK corrosion control, they screwed the pooch with the JL - they didn't paint or isolate the door hinges from the door panels - they are dissimilar metals, so galvanic corrosion happened. On the hood and tailgate as well. Had our 2019 totally repainted & re-stickered for free. They dont repaint the doors, they replace them. Worth looking into

Her WK2 is on around 110k miles, it’s well used and the bubbles on the hood are not too bad so just put up with it 😂
