Missing elderly couple found in NV

Nevada is a dangerous place, and one should think carefully about the route, gas availability, and the risks associated with taking side-excursions. This is especially true if you are very old and have health issues.

Been doing some more reading about this and it's really sad. Like others who've perished in the same way, looks like the RV got stuck and then they tried to drive on in their car to the closest town. Unfortunately, the route there was the more difficult way to go, especially with there still being snow melting up in the mountains and the trails being so muddy because of it. It would have been better to back track but you'd only know that if you were familiar with the area.

This is sad for sure and I am sorry for all involved. That said, I never cease to be amazed by the people who think that driving across some dirt road in Nevada, with nothing more than a GPS, is a good idea. The high desert / mountains can be extremely harsh and roads can disappear in one storm…sometimes even in one day. If you are going to go at it alone, you need to be prepared and know what you are doing.
