LOD makes a carrier with a latch that you must open and then swing the carrier out of the way before opening the tail gate and they make a linked carrier that is attached to the tail gate so all you have to do is open the tail gate normally and the carrier will open with it.
It's the LoD Gen4 linked bumper/ carrier. They also make a non-linked version.
Yep, this is linked to the tailgate. I don't have any good pics, but there's a plate that connects to the tailgate where the stock tire carrier would be mounted and then there's a piece that connects that to the carrier so they open together. Much easier than a non linked carrier
I have the Gen III tire carrier but I cannot see how they mount an pivot points would be different.

That looks the same as how mines connected. That's what I was trying to describe![]()
I have no idea what the differences between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 are. Maybe none?!?
The only difference I am aware of is the Gen 4 uses a different metal which saves weight. A decent amount of weight I believe. Other than that I believe they are the same.
And I thought mine was heavy, it was not fun to install without using a jack. I'm glad I didn't have to install a heavier version![]()
Awesome! I ran LOD in the past 1st or 2nd generation and was happy with it but wanted to do this one with the tail gate option because I'm constantly using the rear to hold my work stuff. This should be a great improvement.
Thanks for the info! Sorry for the hijack.
