LIBERATOR - World’s First 3-D Printable Plastic Handgun

I dont think its barrels he's talking about but the lower receiver that will fill like in the video. Since this video has been made he has also done further reinforcement so it doesn't happen quite often but still should have a back up lower receiver

Ah, got it. Makes sense.

LIBERATOR - World’s First 3-D Printable Plastic Handgun

Interesting. I'll have to forward this to my training department if they don't already have it. Good weapon to have in a pinch but not very practical in my opinion. It's a high tech "zip gun".

Kinda reminds me of Dirty Harry, "In all the excitement I have to ask myself, have I fired nine rounds or ten?"

For those worried about sneeking through a airplane there was a bill passed to makw sure they have some type of metal device imbedded in them. How people or what will go in to make sure this happens I don't know.

That's becoming irrelevant because most airports have (or will have) the newer full body scanning equipment that sees shapes, not metal. Then again, no system is perfect...

I think it's cool. Someone took the time to actually make this work. I see it merely as an exercise in pushing limits.

As for the "OH NO! PEOPLE CAN MAKE THEIR OWN GUNS!!" crowd. Anyone can buy AK47 lower blanks, dies, and parts kits to attach (with compliance kit), then bend the blank on a harbor freight press. Now you have an unregistered, no serial number ak47. And if you don't have the lower blank, the plans are out there to make them. Milled or stamped style. Tooling and parts would cost less than the 3d printing tools used here.

I haven't looked at how to do this for any other weapons, and this method I just stumbled on while looking at the history of the ak47 out of curiosity. I'm guessing you could build an AR15 in a similar manner.

But if someone wants to build a weapon, firearm or other type, there are is an unlimited supply of materials and methods. Tools and a brain are all that are needed.

FYI: I have never owned, nor do I currently own any firearms. At the same time, I don't care if you do.

The above post pretty much sums it up. Not too hard to do bad things if you set your mind to it.

And the govt knee jerk reaction is predictable.

We are so worried about all the kooks out there with a pop guns etc... seems the bigger picture items get overlooked.

Back when I was in school and took nuclear physics class my prof made mention of the fact that the former USSR is missing a few truckloads of plutonium. And stayed pretty matter of fact that had a softball size hunk been placed in the truck used for the oklahoma city bombing they could have killed everyone in the state as well as a state or 2 9over with radiation poisoning. Just thinking about that makes me wonder why we are worried about a plastic gun that can shoot 1 bullet...

Moral of the story is bad people will figure out how to do bad things.
