JL dash speakers

Who out there has replaced their dash corner speakers (not the knee speaker) in a JL?

Any suggestions on make or model speakers?

I have the Alpine upgraded system in my JL but the speaker in the dash is apparently damaged, probably from lots of full volume noise. I want to keep most everything else basically stock and only replace speakers as they wear out. No real desire to add amplifiers etc.

Check out Audio Uprising. I’m running their soundstage upper-dash speakers in my Gladiator, and I’ve been really impressed with the upgrade.

That does look like real nice stuff, I really like the housing with the separate tweeter and woofer.

How’s the volume? Do they play as loud as the factory stuff?

They spec at 8 ohms, the factory jeep stuff is allegedly 2 ohm and about 48 watts RMS. The 8 ohm speakers would cut the power down to about 12 watts RMS (allegedly)

Just out of curiosity, are all of you have or did have the premium sound system from the factory? If so, what about it were you unhappy with? Also, do you listen to loss less music or just satellite or download tracks?

Premium sound, XM and Satellite radio, only unhappy with the “blown” speaker in the dash which I can’t really fault Jeep for I regularly listen to it loud.

One of the best factory sound systems I’ve had

Premium from the factory but speakers seemed to fail fast. Maybe they weren't made for loud music, or I need to invest in hearing aids, so it'll be loud at a normal level lol

Sirius XM, FM radio sucks bad, 95% of the stations are mexican music in this area and the selection for anything English (rock etc...) is worse than AM of the 70's.

On my JL Sport I replaced my entire system. The current sound is excellent.
The Sport came with the lowest sound system, which sucked on options and sound. I would have likely still replaced it if it had been the premium system for better features.

I put sound padding around all the speakers to provide depth. I did not do a separate bass, just no room in a two door of space I was willing to give up.

Note: The knee panel speakers are a challenge to replace, plan on spending time for that install.

Note: A bit glitchy at rare times. Perhaps there is newer firmware to smooth things out.
Fitting this unit into the console is likely the same as trying to put ten pounds of s**t in a five pound bag.
What I did to clear space was to cut the plastic ducts for heating and cooling in the back of the cavity.
I cut half of the ducts circumference diameter in half than wrapped the the remaining in duct tape. Heat and cooling work without issue.

I have so many CDs I was not willing to abandon!
The Sport has a lot of open space under the steering column. I created a mount, cut the knee panel and it makes easy access to this unit.
I provide the sound to the head end over HDMI and control this unit with the remote.
