It is simple: Buying a built up Jeep for $80k will get you a $60k Jeep. Building a $80k will give you a $100k Jeep.

In my experience most built jeeps are way over priced. You can't build a jeep and expect to get out of it what you put in on resale. But for some reason everyone expects to.

Building it yourself, or at least having someone else build it to your standards is where it is at. You make it custom to suit your needs and wants.

Build. But I think I wouldn't buy all the parts at once. I'd make the list and as I finished installing one part, I'd order the next. So it would be a long drawn out fun adventure

I have to admit there's something enticing about buying a loaded AEV that comes with a warranty, 37s, and only 10 miles on it...

People blow $100k plus on built Jeeps all the time let the man sell his Jeep for whatever he wants without criticizing him.

P.S. I would build

LOL! It was a "reality check" - NOT "criticism". There is a difference and at least for me, it was meant to be helpful.

Best question of the year! If i had the space id build cause I love turning a wrench. But because i dont have the space and im a worker drone with 3hrs commute a day... im left with buying it completed. Oh man but who would i hire to do the build is the next question?

Build for sure.... Just finished building a ton onto my 2016 Rubi Hard Rock... And I am already thinking of 2020 buying a new JL with the diesel... However, like most everyone else I have learned... I will get the 2020 JL with Diesel but in a Sport Trim as I already took off most of the Rubi stuff and the 12k difference almost gets me that nice Dynatrac 60/80 combo....:thumb:

Although, I would have to splurge and get that nice Hard Rock power dome hood as I really like that piece of my Hard Rock.... But, I would get a sticker that doesn't say "Rubicon" and more likely "Rubi-Killer" :cheesy:

For all the guys on here saying they will build it and are all gung-ho about it. Have you considered how much work a v-8 swap or other major modifications are? My idea of an 80K rig involves more than swapping coils and adding bigger tires. The thought of a v8 swap project in my home garage is my idea of a nightmare. Not to mention my capabilities.

A few trips to Motech and Off-road Evolution with a check book sounds a lot more pleasant.

Yeah.... That is why I will wait for the Diesel Option.... Same torque less money, less work and it would be great to have 40's and get 25mph......
