How are the conditions @ REDBIRD?

I have never been but would like to tackle a trail or two; #14 and #25 for sure on the 28th (last Sunday) of this month. If anyone in the midwest wants to meet up I'll be driving from SW Chicago burbs area - weather permitting of course. The ten day forecast doesnt look too brutal but only time will tell.

cheers, Jim

If the weather is as wet as it is here it will be a sloppy mess. You might want to see if anyone on indyorv's forum is interested in going, those guys are really familiar with those trails and are pretty good people.

Redbird has lots of hill climbs that top off into a bowl so avoiding mud is not going to happen even on a dry day. It can get slick there when it's wet, and it is always wet this time of year. Some trails are tight and the maps blow. It is easy to get turned around and find yourself on a UTV or dirt bike trail. Trail ratings are way off almost everything there is stock friendly but you should have a winch for self-recovery as it is often difficult to set yourself up to simply be pulled out.
