HighwayTrout's build

Yup. Total metro Bay Area shit human beings.
I forgot I don't live in a small community anymore where you'd have 15 different people stop just to check on you. Mind you I wasn't on a freeway. These guys drove past me at about 10 mph as they turned off to go into the Hollister Hills off road park.

All good though. The flat was a blessing in disguise. I noticed I had a brake fluid leak that I need to address.

They probably thought you were airing down...way down...

I didn't take a single picture while working on the rear of the Jeep. lol

Today's progress was rear everything (springs, shocks, links, bump extensions, brake lines,....)

Also took the Rubicon rock rails off and chopped them with a chop saw. Quick and easy. Tons of dirt in my eyes from laying underneath and taking off all the nuts. lol

So after bleeding the brakes and reattaching the front drive line and all the little cables, breathers and stuff dropped it on all fours. Wishing I took measurements before/after. Very happy how it turned out. Need to make some minor changes and put the rear bumper back on(maybe).

After a quick test lap around the block I drove around town to see how things felt. Happy to report the steering wheel was dead center and no stability control lights or anything came on during the test drive. View attachment 198501.

Felt great. Little bit of wondering on the road. Most likely the tires ride out of the grooves on the pavement. And I left the steering stabilizer off. Most likely won't run one until I buckle down and get a PSC system installed.
Still need to dial in the air pressure I have them at 20 psi at the moment. I set the AEV procal to 35 1/4" tire size measured ground to top of tread near the edge. (Not the top center of the tire)

Any input would be great for tire pressure and size with 37" Trail Grapplers.

When I put on 37's Toyo's OC MT's, they rode a bit sloppy on highway until I got to 32 psi...they run great there...

I used an AEV Procal to calibrate everything and it seemed to work as advertised. Lowered the TPMS and adjust the tire size.

Decided to program the day time running light function and my headlights went haywire.

Bummed it didn't work but glad my lights returned to normal after I set it back to the factory setting.

Installed Drake hood latches. They seem nice and sturdy and will eliminate the hood flutter. We'll see.

Butter fingers....

Out of curiosity, why'd you decide to go with the King 2.5's over the coilovers. I've debated about the same thing myself so wanted your opinion.

In the end it was being honest with myself knowing I don't need coil overs. I rarely drive the Jeep and even less off road. I went back and forth for a couple of years and my mind was set on their bolt on coil over kit. Part of me still wishes I went with coil overs but it would have been major overkill just for looks basically.

Saved some coin going this route also. That always helps with any decision.

Now you got me thinking of coil overs again. Damn it. Hahaha

Honestly, some could argue the 2.5 with the king bumps is just as good if not better than coil overs. I've actually had a few folks tell me as much and they ran the CO. The 2.5 are nothing to blink twice at. Solid decision. And think, if you ever go DTD, you didn't waste the extra coin. [emoji6]

I went back and forth for a long time as well. Nearly two years after pulling the trigger, very happy still with the Enforcer and King 2.5s. [emoji106][emoji41]

This is all very true as well. Reading a few others here mention the same thing ultimately made me change my mind.

I have a few more things to do to mine and I'm sure I'll be as happy as the rest.

Put a shovel in the tire carrier to gain brownie points with the "overlander" peeps. LOL!!

Seriously I doubt I'll ever carry the shovel around. I can count on one hand how many times I've needed one. Never the less...

Painted the blade black to blend in better. May paint the handle too.

First attempt.

Small adjustment.

That looks better..

TrailReady Beadlocks....

Powder coat them or buy something else.

One month old and mine look worse than dog shit.
ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1464379997.788624.jpg.

New windshield = new tint strip and wayalife sticker.

They went a little lower this time with the strip. Not sure I like it.

Had the same issue with mine. It was right in my line of sight and really annoying.. I got used to it though. I just got a new windshield though and I didn't opt for a brow this time Around.

Why not some Walker Evans or the tried and true Slabs? Maybe raw...

I wish I ordered them powder coated. I like the look and that there made in the states.

Another knock on the trail ready's is that the bolt heads arnt totally recessed.

Shoulda went with slabs....

Exciting! What's the plan?

Sad part is these parts have been sitting on the garage floor for months.

Dynatrac ball joints and ProGrip brakes.
Really looking forward to installing and feeling the difference in the brakes. The ball joints are way over due. Almost certain it's my stock ball joints causing some issues in my front end.

Also looking real hard at the new PSC steering box. Just haven't decided to go that route or ram assist.

And I swear I'm cutting the fenders! Haha Constantly rubbing and damn near tearing off the rears when the tires grab is getting ridiculous.
