Hello,
My name is Jack and I just ordered a 23 4 door JL Rubicon (White) and it should be here in about 3 months. I have been in the Army for 19 years and I retire in a little over a year. From 2005-2007 I owned a 2004 Rubicon while I was stationed in Boulder, CO and loved it. I sold it due to me getting stationed in Germany and I have been itching to get another one ever since. The wife gave me the green light to get a new toy for retirement (she got tired of me showing her Eddies videos for the past 12 years and giving her the look), so here I am (persistence is key). Once I retire, I will take trips with the wife and kids all over the US and sight see with the Jeep. Some of the options and upgrades I am looking at are below.
Options:
- Integrated Off-Road Camera
- Body-Color fender flares
- Hinge Reinforcement
- Black 3 piece hard top
- Leather seats
- Cold weather group
- LED group
- Safety Group
- Advanced Safety Group (not sure if I will like the big box in the middle of the windscreen)
- Trailer package
-3.6L V6 w/ eTourque (I have heard mixed reviews about this but I didn't really have any other option)
Some upgrades I'm looking at are:
- EVO Quarter Pounder
- EVO Rock Slider set without the step insert or light kit
- EVO or Rusty's bumper delete (You can use your parking assist with Rusty's, plus it looks cleaner)
- Rusty's rear fascia cover kit
- Rugged Ridge Chop Brackets with lights
- ARB Twin High Performance Air Compressor with Epic Offroad's Kracken mount (still researching this a bit more)
- EVO Coilovers w/ High Clearance Lower Control Arms (still up in the air with this)
- Tazer JL Mini (I think this is a must)
- 38x12.5 Ridge Grapplers
- Method 106 Beadlock Matte Black wheels (not 100% sold on these yet)
- I could go on and on but that covers the main stuff
I am not dead set on any of these upgrades but these are the ones that have caught my eye, if anyone has pros or cons to anything mentioned, I have thick skin so don't be afraid to call me a noob. The lift might be a bit of overkill but I am the type of person that believes if your going to do something, you might as well do it right the first time. Also, I would rather have something and not need it, compared to, not have something and need it. I also plan to do most of the work myself. I build cars (most recent is the car pictured) in my free time so I'll probably do everything except the coilover install because I'm not the best welder. So if anyone knows someone they trust in the north east to do something like that please let me know.
