Give me your thoughts

I've been trying thinking of different ideas to mount my mini mag lite, and I've been playing in the shop making a mount, and here is what I have so far:









I'm in the process of making a few more, and I'd like to ask for some opinions on design and function. If these turn out pretty good, I'm gonna start having my students at school make a few of these as a project.

how is it going to mount? I am not sure it needs to be so heavy duty as it is a small lite, could you trim the length down a bit?

Inside, does the screw push directly into the light handle? Or is there a plate or something to spread it out and hold it over a longer distance? (preventing the light from being marked)

I see, just to hold it, not mounted somewhere that the light would be used. That's cool.

This first one I just tapped a couple 5/16-18 holes in the bottom, and I actually just started on a smaller one, ill post pics soon.
