Get your new JKs now, seems like it's all over - No more Soild Axle in 2016

I think the majority of JK owners never go off road . They probably don't even know how to put them in 4wd. That being said, they will probably sell more Jeeps with IFS & IRS because they will ride better on road. Jeep will play that angle to the hilt. I can hear the commercials now, "The new Jeep, all new independent suspension, rides just like a car ". It's okay, it will make our Jeeps worth more money to the hardcore wheelers who will still want solid axles. Besides, I'll never buy another Jeep anyway.

I believe the JK is the most showroom capable and affordable 4WD available today. Jeep won't throw away their loyal customer base if they can help it. Dodge is putting the 3.0L diesel into the Ram for fleet economy numbers so I can see it in the new Wrangler. The basic Ram 4WD trucks get roughly the same fuel numbers so I think an oil burner in the new, lighter, sleeker Wrangler will happen sooner than later. Clearance issues aside, I'm intrigued by the possibility of IFS. Here in the desert you can really rip down washboard sandwashes with the right suspension. It takes major bucks to get solid axles to behave right, where I think IFS may have an advantage from the jump. As stated earlier, Jeep has always advanced the ball. I'm excited and I guess we'll just have to see. Because I already own a 2012, see is all I can do for awhile.:twocents:

My IFS friends with Libertys, 4runners, etc, destroy me on normal bumpy desert stuff without even bothering to air down. :(

It might not be such a terrible thing for *most* people.

My personal opinion (nothing more...)

If you want to climb the canyons in Moab, get the right tool for the job...get a Wrangler. If you want to blast down the desert sand...get the right tool for the job...get a Raptor.

So should Eddie sell moby and buy a raptor?

I get what you're saying with this, and I agree and also much prefer seeing a well built Jeep than a Raptor.

But Moby isn't exactly a showroom Jeep... I'm sure it does great on some other terrain too, but I don't know how most stock-ish Jeeps would compare.

Don't follow me, I'm lost too! O|||||||O

I thought we are talking about an out of the box IFS wrangler and a Raptor, specifically because the poster above said that he loves to blast on sand dunes...not a vehicle that has well over 100K worth of work into it. Are you going to say that if someone is looking to do some desert bashing the raptor is not the more appropriate tool for a job than a wrangler? (stock for stock?)

I think his point is you can have both with a properly built JKU. The Raptor? Not so much.

No more solid axle in 2016

I heard somewhere they are thinking of getting rid of the solid axle on wranglers in 2016.

Can anyone verify is it true?

there is about 4 threads on this rumor and no have been able to confirm this.

True. Because no one has been able to confirm Jack, I'm thinkin' we are going to see IFS with the new Wrangler.:idontknow: I love IFS, but it does have limitations off road. Somehow in Baja and probably KOH there are folks haulin' butt through serious rocky terrain with IFS so my curiosity meter is pegged. Maybe Jeep has it figured out.:twocents:

C'mon man. The Jeep itself is damn near 40K. How much would it cost to have a JKU that can blast down the desert at 75mph? Thats like saying you can buy a 4Runner instead of a wrangler because the 4runner built up can do what the jeep can do. Im not even going to compare the motor difference between the two (raptor and wrangler.)

$17k for a triple bypass EVO lever double throw down with all of the trimmings. It will run just fine in the desert, even with a 3.8. You ever seen GCM, WOL, or Mel running in the desert? (Pre-V8's). And no, I'm not saying it's as fast as a Raptor...but it's more than fast enough for 90% of people. 60+ mph through 3ft deep ruts is damn fast in my book.

Put $17k into a Raptor and then try to take it through Fordyce or the Rubicon. Let me know where to send the helicopter to pick you up.
