Evo Sliders and Rocker skins questions??

I have a question regarding the Evo rock sliders and the evo rocker skins.. Looking to buy the sliders here pretty soon but what purpose do the rock skins provide if i have the sldiers? Are they there to just look good or what?
 
IMHO, they are a secondary set of protection against body damage. There are times you are on your side, using your rockers and still there are walls, pointy rocks and other items that can cause damage. Cheap insurance in my mind. I think they look good too....
 
For the most part they simply look great.

However. Now that we know that the EVO sliders will not flex any. The body is on rubber pucks and could flex enough that the slider mounting bars can contact your rocker panels. Having EVO rocker protection would eliminate Andy damage to you panel. Cheap insurance.
 
If you don't want the rock skins, maybe consider the EVO sliders with the custom order step angle. Even when flexing the body mounts, you'll only connect with the lower pinch seam.

I have seen the body flex enough to have the standard EVO sliders make contact. Most recently this was shown by LoPo. Think he is now looking at the rock skins for added protection.

I ordered the Rock Skins just because I like the look and Northridge has them on sale right now. I got them for $215 already powder coated and free shipping. It was hard to pass up. They will be getting delivered this Tuesday! :rock: Ill be ordering the sliders as well soon.

Negative. His sliders made contact with the pinch seam which happens to a lot of people, myself being one. I have never seen or heard of an EVO slider hitting the tub at the top of the slider. Nor do I think it would even be possible.
 
People need to remember that unlike the TJ, YJ and CJ before which essentially had rubber hockey pucks for body mounts, the JK has true body which are designed as isolators. This allows for a much better ride and absorbs road noise really well BUT, it also allows for a greater degree of movement between the tub and frame. In other words, a frame mounted rocker guards doesn't need to bend in order to have the mounting arms make contact with the lower pinch seam.

I can't find it. Thought he posted a pic of the horizontal mark from the lower rail rubbing? Not the mounts hitting the pinch. Maybe that area just above is still considered the pinch seam.

I noticed mine had pushed/flexed into my tub on both sides. Hopefully this doesn't become too common. Last few times out I've had the full weight of my jeep on them though. Those malls are rough!

I got my driver side Rock Skin installed last night. The Astro 1442 made it easy. Took about 1.5 hours to complete with removing and reinstalling Rubi rail.ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1405620072.755704.jpg

Also a little off toppic but still regarding the slidders, can someone run me some numbers as to where there arms on them mount to the frame on a two door. I was looking at getting these but dont no if i can fit them with my long arm set up from RE!

You need to order them without the arms welded on and then weld the arms on around your brackets.
