Diagnosis Thoughts

Hey All,

Was poking around the Jeep this evening and noticed that it looked like oil or something had splashed on my drivers side upper control arm. Took a closer look and the lower part of the drivers side axle c looks all wet. I have no idea where that would be coming from. Any thoughts on what I should be looking for?

It's not diff oil dripping down from the breather tube is it? This happened to me on that side and the diff was over full and pushing it out the breather.
 
I'll double check that, but I doubt it. I haven't serviced the diffs at all and my breather tube is extended up into the engine bay. I guess it's possible it could be coming from where I joined the extension, but it seems too localized only on the lower half of the C.
 
I had the same issue with my 2012 Wrangler at 20k miles on the front passenger side. The dealer replaced the Right front axle housing seal under warranty. I guess this is more common with the dana 30s from what I could tell researching when I found the leak. It was dripping onto the ground and when looking I believe it was pooling in the same location as your pictures above.

found the service receipt and they replaced,.. This would be on a 2012 Wrangler Dana 30.

Just in case anyone was curious... it was the axle shaft seals. The stealership replaced under warranty. Got the Jeep back and was finishing up a lighting project and noticed that the front diff was now leaking. My guess is that they just didn't do a great job with the RTV - it looked pretty messy. So it's back at the dealership again!

They tried giving me a dragon edition unlimited for a rental and my reaction was "Nooooooo!!!". They put me in a new challenger instead. Ha ha
