Coyote Lake Trip

I’m thinking about investigating coyote lake 4x4 outside Shaver lake this weekend as it doesn’t seem to be on fire.

Has anyone been there recently, how is the trail?


Short notice, but Is anyone interested in going? I’m flexible between tomorrow and Sunday.

Just a day trip?? That is damn near 20 miles round trip of some pretty difficult wheeling.

Coyote is a fun trail but definitely a long one for a day trip. Doable, but long. Most stop at Red Lake (same trail) if doing a day trip which is at the gate keeper to Coyote. I was up there about 3 weeks ago and the trail was good, unfortunately a lot of the fun sections were moderately filled in.

I’ll be up in that area on Sunday but heading to Strawberry lake.

Thanks for the good info. My guide book had me pointed in the wrong direction with 3.8 miles. (I haven’t been up that way before)

I will have to recalibrate to a shorter run in that area.
